Same reason Saban didnt go to Texas. Certain people think they own you. With Scott at A&M, Jimbo had some cover. He no longer does.
Scott sold him on full control and AD cover. It's been a handshake since EdO tanked and A&M got screwed out of the playoffs.

People throw money around for access. If they are helping pay you $8M, they play games. It's a power thing (head games). Saban has told them to piss off. Jimbo isn't quite big enough for that yet. All such contacts go through the AD anyway, so SW can limit that and give Jimbo a little 'more freedom' to run the program. That way you don't feel like you have to give a rich BR lawyer's kid a walk-on spot.

Why would I waste my time typing out actual intelligent thoughts here? Nobody is taking a Texas poster seriously here with 90% of us being alters.
Legitimately not trolling at all here, just telling you something I heard that I actually believe. This guy could call Jimbo right now on a Friday night at 10:30 and he would answer the phone. Last time I was at their ranch a couple years ago, came back from an evening hunt, Rick Perry & an A&M board member were drinking beer at the house.
I sent him a message today and asked him if he was nervous about Jimbo and he said "Not at all, Lincoln Riley to LSU is pretty much a done deal."
I can pry for a little more info this weekend.

Jesus I hope this isn't true. Kiffin is clearly the better option of those three (highest ceiling), but this is a sad coaching search if that is the final yield.

I text my old boss yesterday, ribbing him about jimbo to LSU. His exact words were, “Jimbo is solid. Riley is a done deal to LSU.” Pictures of him and Jimbo all over the office. Anytime Jimbo comes through Shreveport, he is expected to stop by. I actually met him at the office one day.

Before today, I would've bet money that Riley wouldn't leave Oklahoma. Tonight, I think I would bet the other way.
Either Riley is happening or Jimbo isn't being straight up with people he has a pretty close relationship with, not that I would blame him in this situation.
