Because we mainly wanted Tosh the recruiter at LB or DL not Tosh the DC.
If he can get a DC spot at Oregon then by all means let him go.

Why?

Do you actually think he was fired at Alabama for NCAA transgressions?

He had already served his penance when Saban hired him in 2014.

Word from Florida fans is “bull” and “shite”. Sounds more like sour grapes to me.

Either way, don’t care.

Not a fan of him as DC
—-
After some early struggles during the season, Saban stripped Lupoi of defensive play-calling responsibilities and handed them over to co-defensive coordinator Pete Golding, according to sources. Saban had poached Golding from UT-San Antonio in the offseason in part to alleviate concerns about Lupoi’s inexperience with the secondary and as a play-caller. Still, word is Lupoi seemed overwhelmed during practices and didn’t totally grasp situational play-calling. While he was still heavily involved in the defensive game-planning, there was no question Golding taking over play-calling represented a demotion of sorts for Lupoi barely into the start of his defensive coordinator stint.

He’s done nothing as a DC to say he’s improved. Again, best of luck at Oregon

Napier's DC is Patrick Toney - the guy is brought over from ULL

He was hired as co-DC. Rumors were Napier was targeting Lupoi as DC.

ETA: I know that there have also been rumors from the beginning that Toney would be the primary defensive play caller. This decision by Lupoi would tend to support that. My point is that Napier still hasn’t formally announced his defensive play caller and the rumors surrounding Lupoi add to the lack of public clarity on that side. Some LSU fans see that as problematic for LSU. I’m mostly poking at them for their overreaction to the current state of the search and using Florida as an example of another school in a similar position.

Powledge from Baylor (and ULL before that) is already the co-defensive coordinator. Lupoi will be defensive coordinator in title but it’s Lanny’s defense. Lupoi is coming to recruit.

This will be a disaster. Love it.

Lanning and Powledge are good X’s and O’s coaches. You’re hoping it doesn’t work out. On paper, he’s putting together a great defensive staff.

He's just salty that Oregon was going to possibly be screwed making an SC revival that much easier.

All those hopes are being crushed with the staff being assembled.

You know Udub fans are like....

Didn't go to ULL Napier doesn't want him.

Miami about to sign a dick load of 4 stars and Napier is just over here inventing creative titles for his boys

Easier to blame Mullen I guess that way

Yep. Great hire for Oregon.

Florida thought they had him locked up. Stealing him from UF is huge for Coach Lanning. Congratulations

Sounds like Napier’s search for a DC is just as unclear as Kelly’s. I wonder if Gator fans are ready to jump off a bridge too.
