Agreed. I was born and raised in Louisiana, graduated LSU, but i chose to live in Austin. I really love it here, hipsters or not.

What any coach wants, TO WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

And what is the easier path to do that? The relatively weak Big 12 or slugging it out in the SEC West every season? That's what most of you don't take into account when saying what a great job LSU is. Most coaches like job security a whole lot better than competition.

As others have pointed out, sure the sec west is more difficult, but you also get more room for error because if that very fact.

A 1 loss sec team is not going to be left out of the playoffs. That's definitely not try regarding Houston or the big12

Not to mention, if it was all about the easiest path, why would those schools out recruit LSU and Bama? Its also easier for the players want to win an NC just as much as the coach does.

LSU kept Miles for 11 years of clock mismanagement and stupid coaching decisions. Sounds like job security to me.

There are a lot of big donor "Bobby Lauder" type UT alumni in Houston. I am sure he knows them. They were too much for Saban to deal with and I hear he wants no part of that circus.

USC is really the threat

GratefulTiger is talking about having a close source directly to Herman and claims this is simply not true. Claims it's Houston or Texas and 100% fact Herman will not come to LSU.

A point I haven't seen made is that Texas has enough money to cut bait on Herman after two years if things aren't turning around. If LSU gives him a 6 mil/5 yr deal, there is no way we could afford to fire him until year 4 at soonest. That gives him at least one extra year at LSU to turn things around and get an extension, if needed. Hell, money is why Les got another chance after last season. Probably wouldn't be needed, but if job security is a priority...

They can offer more money but they haven't thus far.

exactly. there's a market for head coach salaries and there are 15 or so schools that can pay w/e for a head coach.

when texas offered saban 7mil, bama just gave him raise.

why didn't texas offer 8, 9 or 10mil? they could, but they aren't fricking retarded.

Does the LSU job allow you to rub elbows with Presidents of the United States, have a movie star alum as one of your biggest fans, have Fortune 500 CEOs and oil bucks to build at the drop of a hat (if you win), have your own television network and have "TEXAS" in big fricking letters emblazoned across everything you wear?

i think you just summed up some of the problems with texas. it would definitely be his program more so at lsu than texas. all those texas big shots wanna feel special every minute of the day.

his salary would be the same at lsu and he wouldn't be on demand 24/7 for snot-nosed texans.

texas, the only place in america where a person can be a redneck and queer at the same time.

Even if Herman left for the NFL after only 2-3 years we would most likely win at least one natty in that time. I'll take that risk.

So he can go to fail at the NFL for a season and then take over for Saban at Alabama.

I keep hearing morons say this, so I go and look at all of the nattys from the last 10-15 years and I don't see a whole lot of big 12. I see a boat load of SEC teams though.

Talked about Strong would be "released" [pause] ... Released from the cesspool that is Austin, TX... Having to deal with the different factions of boosters... the arrogance. Texas has ruined good coaches and doesn't see why anyone would want to go there with the culture.

Rece chimed in that they're probably 5th in the state as of now and for the past 5 years.
