What does what happened in the 1940's have to do with the relative state of the programs that each took over?

Kelly replaced a guy who LEFT Cincy because he did such a good job there Michigan State hired him!

Schiano came into a hellhole that went out of its way to NOT have a good football program (because the academic elites that run it wear that as some kind of badge of honor) and not only did he convince them to invest in him and his program, but turned an absolute shite hole of a team into consistent winners.

Rutgers had been to ONE bowl in their entire history pre-Schiano. 2009 will make 5 straight.

Schiano never took anyone apart from the joints like Kelly is doing this year, total domination.

But of course you have blown Miles at every turn so I really shouldnt trust your perspective.

I never said the two were the same program when each took over. I said the two have through the course of program been equivalent programs.

If you can't see that Cinci is a bad job then you are blind. Rutgers is the only BCS school in NJ a state that produces BCS talents every year. Kelly and Cinci have to scratch and claw recruits from tOSU and other neighboring programs.

I've never said Schiano is a bad coach. I think he's a good coach, but if you can't admit Kelly's protfolio is better then you are blind.

What are you talking about? Bobby Bowden obviously had and easy job when he got to Florida State because their winning percentage is close to 67%. Who cares if they had a program winning percentage of 36% when he got there and had been terrible, it was obviously easy because all that matters is overall winning percentage.

What does that have to do with the task that each faced when arriving at their school?

The road was much tougher for Schiano.

I'm not saying that Cincy is some kind of great job, but that Rutgers was one of the absolute worst programs in college football when GS took over, something you can't say about Cincy. The foundation had been layed for Kelly already.

#1 That's the second time in one post that you've used the "If you can't see _______ then you're blind" card.

#2 Sure, on paper Kelly's number's look great. And I'm not saying he wouldn't be a good choice for someone, he would be. But what Schiano did is more impressive even though it doesn't look as pretty on the stat sheet.

People questioned Saban's credentials at Michigan State when he was first hired at LSU because they went 6-6 or 7-5 every year but one. You have to look past the surface and see what all the underlying circumstances behind what a coach has done are.

Schiano has also had more seasons to rebuild from what he was given

It shows that most coaches at the school win a certain percent. Kelly has elevated his school Schiano is at his own

Minnesota won a shite ton back in the day but I wouldn't say they are as good a job as their overall winning percentage indicates.

Don't be such a simpleton. Don't just look at the numbers, look past them.

If I just looked at number I would think Les is a better coach than Schiano

Take that kind of analytical thinking past your own team.

Going from Cincy to Notre Dame is a massive leap. Not sold Kelly can do it. Stoops would be a much much more solid choice. Not saying Kelly can't but lets be reasonable. Big East isn't elite.

It's probably better than the Big 12 this year, honestly.

I disagree, Schiano has never won a big game, and has only had 1 maybe 2 solid seasons, Kelly has had many solid seasons and won many big games as well. That is the difference.

This is great stuff. With all the Big East disrespect we see here each year, it's hilarious that people are fighting over two of their coaches.

The Big East is probably better than the Big 12 and Big 10 this year.

Sagarin has them as the 4th best conference right now.

Anything after the SEC and Pac 10 this year is a crap shoot. Toss the Big East, Big 10, Big 12 and ACC in a bag and pick one for #3.

IMO, Tom Savage is going to be so good that he's going to make Schiano the hot commodity again.

Savage is going to be a BEAST and as the QB goes, the team goes. Rutgers WILL win the Big East while Savage and Mohamed Sanu is there.

If McNeese had an openning this year. Who would be your first choice- Kelly or Schiano?
