Things just got hotter for Mike Norvell at FSU with Napier and Cristobal coming in.

If he starts 2-1 next year he's in big trouble

If he starts 3-2 he's gone after week five

Don't crown Napier. Norvell was Napier 3 years ago.

I mean he’s definitely not starting 3-0, BDBK is coming to the dome week 1

You’re lucky most people on this board can’t read- they’d be really offended by that statement

He was better. He had wins vs ranked UCLA and Ole Piss teams, as well as Navy, SMU and Houston in conference. He also beat Fickell and Cincy head to head two weeks in a row to win the AAC and get to a NY6 Bowl in 2019. He had the stronger resume of the two, by far.

A better overall program in a better conference- yes. A better roster…probably a little, but Fuente wasn’t a great recruiter at Memphis, either. It was Norvell that made them one of the top 3-4 G5 programs in that regard, and it’s why he ended up having more success in the end. He upgraded their roster over his first three seasons and you could really see a big difference by 2019.

Despite his lackluster start, Norvell is still holding his own recruiting at FSU. If he can turn the corner and start winning, I think he could have even more success in that regard.

7 maybe 8 wins is the hope for next year. Outside of some people on social media most people knew this was gonna be a long term rebuild

Why? They aren’t great coaches.

We play Duquesne before LSU next year so we should be 1-0.

Hitting the reset button in the middle of year 3 sounds like an awful idea. Especially when Florida and Miami have first-year coaches.

Norvell needs a fair opportunity to turn that dumpster fire around. Cristobal isn't going to rebuild Miami overnight, and there is no guarantee Napier will succeed in Gainesville.

The jury is still out but he needs a chance to bring some talent into the program. He is with this recruiting class and he's already got some nice commitments for '23. That said he's made some horrible in game decisions and it's hard to ignore not playing prevent on a hail mary and losing to Jacksonville St
