Meaning no coach who oversaw a pair of back to back .500 seasons made the cut on BK's staff

HC- Ed Orgeron
OC- Steve Ensminger
DC- Bo Pelini
PGC- Scott Linehan
DL- Bill Johnson
OL- James Cregg
S- Bill Busch
ST- Greg McMahon
DBs- Corey Raymond
WRs- Mickey Josepeh
RBs- Kevin Faulk
S&C- Tommy Moffit

The bolded coaches were here for 2021 and into the Kelly hire.

Decisions yet to come on

OC Peetz
DC Jones
PGC Mangas
DL Carter
LB Baker

A gripe I had with the Orgeron hire was the large scale continuance of the Miles era with many retentions from Miles staff. I'm happy to see a culture/leadership shakeup from a program that has gone stale

The decision on Peetz has been made and Magnus will not be a “field coach” if retained.

I’d guess he follows Brady somewhere.

Oh Peetz is as good as gone, just didn't include him as fired since it hasn't been announced and he's technically still OC

Baker and Carter have legit shots to stay imo. Unless they get promotions elsewhere. Baker probably will get a DC job. Tennessee wanted him for it last off season.

Is that so terrible? So what we learned is Coach o could not hire many good coaches. I think we now have a coach that can vet coaches properly and get the right guys at LSU.

imho, seems likely Peetz stays on through the bowl game, and Kelly moves him along shortly after to start building his offense going into early spring. Good to see the removal of dead wood, even if some of these coaches have sentimental value. Going to be a good five to ten years for the tigahs.

The program was FAR from broken when Miles was fired. The hurdle that LSU could not get over was Miles's flat out refusal to adjust his offensive approach that would allow a really good program to take the next step to becoming a championship program. That, in fact, played out when Miles' DC coupled with the change in offense Miles never would have implemented led to one of the most dominant seasons in CFB history.

It wasn't so much the Miles era retentions that caused the ship to sink...It was when those guys started to leave and the new shrimpboat Capitan had full control of the ship...that he promptly steered into the bank.

O NEVER understanding of the game to meddle in the offense. He just made two bad hires after Brady left. The first (Linehan) was an effort to avoid a Brady scenario (young coach leaves after one season). The second was an effort to re-create the Brady scenario. Both failed.

But the biggest problem that once he was freed of the Miles-era shackles on the defense (Aranda) he could run HIS "tremendous" defense...which tanked the program.

I'm not saying Kelly should or should not have kept guys from the 2021 staff. But the worst coach on staff (Orgeron) is gone...which is the biggest plus.

This. The only reason O succeeded and lasted as long as he did was because he retained (or was required to retain) the Miles-era coaches. Aranda was always going to provide an elite defense.

There is a reason we know that Brad Davis is staying. It was essential to keep him from looking elsewhere to ensure you have at least one holdover. The reason the guys above on the list are still on the staff unlike Joseph, Raymond, and Faulk is b/c they found other jobs and/or their replacements have been announced. I won't be surprised if Davis is the only holdover. And I wouldn't be surprised if any of the list above announce soon that they have taken a new job.

Everything in your post is spot on.

I will be honest - I was REALLY saying WTF when i first heard about CR bouncing, and I still think we'll likely downgrade at that spot, but I am okay with letting BK do his thing.

Maintaining some continuity likely would've helped us in the short term--imo it potentially could've helped us a **LOT** in the short term, given how talented the roster is/was--but I am totally fine with handing BK the keys and letting him build for the long-term. I would rather see the program prioritize long-term health than short-term gains.

Bottom line: Losing a guy like CR is almost certainly gonna hurt a little bit in the short-term... but I'd rather allow Kelly to build how he sees fit than force something on him that he doesn't really want in exchange for short-term benefit. The man has not failed yet, so although I don't necessarily buy that we're better off without Raymond, I'm on board with letting him do his thing.

Keep Baker and Carter.
I don’t care about the rest. Wouldn’t be surprised if Jones stayed at least for 1 year.
Carter was a legit coach in the NFL.
The Current LBs love Baker.

Good. A hard reset is needed to purge the program of 2020-2021’s stink.

Bro, the reason they haven’t been announced as staying or going is because they are an essential part of the game we have on Jan 4 . Once they get through with that , then a decision is made or announced.

It’s a risky move when it comes to recruiting, but it may be the only way to have those important practices and a good gameplan and game
