If he does its not good news obviously, he seems like a good coach and recruiter but we did lose our DC after 2008 and still managed to do all right in 2009.
I think Smart would help himself by getting out from underneath Saban's shadow but Florida is a kind of strange choice along those lines. Its not the same thing as working for Saban, but its just going to work for another guy who will be seen as being very hands on with the team's defense. That's why Texas would have been a good choice for Smart except for the fact that Texas seems to be melting down a bit.

I have mixed feelings on Smart. So we bring him in, he sits in our meetings, then bolts next year to UGA after another 6-7 win season. I'm not sure I like that considering we already have Muschamp.

Would Smart be the best that Georgia could do? Just another guy with no head coaching experience. Although if Muschamp does well it could be a more trendy pick.

He has been around Saban long enough now that if he comes out and says, "I will not be the next DC at Florida", someone needs to call Mayflower and set up a DC search committee.
