Saban had the smarts to hire a southern staff. Lets see if Bielema will.

I forgot Bielema was an NFL D-coordinator. Oh wait.

No it's not. Saban had to lock up Louisiana for the flagship school. Bret will have to go outside the state with zero ties to recruit. A big, big difference. Bret couldn't stand the way Urban recruited. He is about to learn a hard lesson in recruiting.

Lightning will not strike twice. Strange hire in my book...I never took the Wisconsin job as a stepping stone...especially to Arkansas

bilema just built on the old coach's success.

Bielema will go on to win 3 national titles in the SEC with a stint in the NFL in between. No doubt.

This. Arkansas better hire some assistants with deep, deep Texas ties, or this will be a huge fail on Long's part.

That is because several jobs are just a stepping stone to Arkansas.

Boise State.

Missouri

Jets

Falcons

Nebraska

Its hard to argue with his on the field success.

He is a defensive oriented HC, but his offenses have been good at Wisconsin.

Long will need to make the funds available for a great staff to be hired with assistants who can recruit Texas and the south. It will be important to keep Horton and Caldwell in some capacity on the staff now.
