The OU denial of Riley leaving doesn't make sense

Why would Lincoln Riley tell OU that he wants no part of living in baton rouge while he's trying to leverage for a raise among other possible accommodations. Silly tactic correct?
Or do you tell some people you want no part of living in Baton Rouge cause you want to be left alone for a couple weeks and aren't even interested in OU matching certain things cause your mind is already made up.

You can honestly say you want no part of living in Baton Rouge when you plan on living outside of Baton Rouge.

Don't be talking about hometown. 
OP makes a good point. He would only say that after OU gave him a pay raise. He wouldn't say that before OU came at him with more money.
Now if he said this to a friend, I would understand it, but what kind of friend would leak that? No much of a friend.
