Some podunk TX poster called El Gato on a duck hunting forum said LSU is hiring Elko. Sources are far and wide across the internet, it’s going to be a fun journey until the press conference.

He failed at his last HC job and running backs have been a huge disappointment since he’s been here..
So it’s a hard Neaux

Does the next head coach have to at least have a winning record as a head coach?

If you cant get Kiffin, i dont know how possible that is, Coach O is the hire all day long. Who else is available? Two year deal limited guarantees, hes made some $$$ off us he knows it, he wants to coach at this level, gives him two years to solidify the job, room for in case big name becomes available. New NIL format with his charisma i think he can cook, he will use all our resources, boosters, facilities for top hires.

You are not serious; we’re not bringing back O. Actually, has anyone in the P5 ever brought back a coach they fired? Not one that left for a new job, but a fired coach.

I’m throwing in a crazy candidate:
Kalani Sitake Of BYU.

Im starting to really like Key but he also seems like a guy that wouldn’t want anything to do with someone like Governor Omar.

Why cant you? Cause no one else did it? Format changed, Left in very good terms. Why his new deal be short term and flexible. He would take it to coach at this level.

John Sumrall would be a homerun but would need people to check their ego's to make the hire.
We just fired the whale we need the best fit not the biggest name.

Bret Heartline at Ohio state is not the guy. He was made the OC two years ago and couldn't handle it, so Ryan Day demoted him back to an assistant. After learning a little more ,
Ryan day then promoted him back to OC . Ryan day is probably doing 50% of the OC play calling.
Hartine hasn't learned enough

I like Key and Lea and Dillenger since we most likely can't get Cignetti..
Sheppard would be a good DC.

I can elaborate on this one. BYU fans were ready to fire him pretty quickly, citing bad management and in game bonehead moves.
He turned it around, but he would be a fish out of water in Louisiana.
He can navigate NIL really well, because BYUs is massive. Can definitely recruit but going into a household in Houston is very different than the houses he goes into now
He's a big culture guy, which fits with LSU but he is about as big of a stereotype of pacific islander utah Mormon as you can get. He wouldn't fit in down your way. Good guy though.
From the outside looking in, LSU shouldn't overcomplicate it. There's likely 30+ coaches that would win right away with LSU resources. There are coaches like Jason Eck, who would ignite LSU but don't have a chance.
