Random entry-former Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald.
Long acknowledged as a great coach but forced out over an allegation later proved to be false.
Would probably not cost an arm and a leg and may even be willing to keep certain members of current staff deemed essential.

Hearing buzz about Dan Mullen this morning. Why, I have no clue.

Because all he does is win?
He's not leaving IU for this clusterfrick
He is far and away the best coach in CFB right now, and IU has a lot more money than LSU, and college town he lives in now is 100x better than BRuuuh.

Did we forget about Matt Rhule or is there a reason his name isn't mentioned?

While hiring a mid major coach is always a gamble, I think that Golesh is legit and he'd make LSU pretty formidable again.

quote:After Bill Arnsparger left LSU to be the Florida AD, LSU AD Joe Dean hired LSU DC Mike Archer because he had "Lots of Support' by the team.
Kelvin Sheppard (DC for Detroit) - I'd be in favor but will be a NFL head coach pretty soon. Lots of support by former LSU players on social media for him
Steve Spurrier was at Duke and wanted the LSU job, but DAD blew him off and hired MA.
Arnsparger then hires Spurrier at Florida and the rest is history.
Frick all that "The current team and ex-players like Him" BS.

From what PSU folks are saying, Matt Rhule was told his Cornhuskers need to reach 9 wins, including a win in Happy Valley, in order to be offered the job. Brian Hartline is their backup plan.

Not that you're serious but SP pulled the team orthopedic surgeon from the Saints to be the guy for the Broncos. Definitely a long term plan to be in Denver.

Ive been working a lot in Atlanta and watching local TV at the Hotel and this dude is impressive as frick. The way he talks, carries himself and interacts with his players is top shelf. He is gettable financially but he played at Ga Tech so who knows.
I doubt we can go head to head with the money bag at Indiana for Cignatti. He's one of the richest guys in the world and already put his money were his mouth is. Pretty sure he's out regardless of how bad we want him.

Sounds like what PSU fans want to see. I doubt Rhule was given any conditions considering he's almost best friends with the AD, he's an alum and it's supposedly been his dream job. I believe the job is his no matter what Nebraska does.

Someone please convince me that Sumrall should be our guy

I just want Landry to keep his fingers out of it. He will surely screw it up.

Rumors are circulating that he's being given a contract extension to keep him in Lincoln.
