In all fairness, CW left because his son wants to be a coach and is at UF. Kind of a perfect storm thing, with vacancies and family ties.

Well in all fairness, Cam is good friends with Les and was in his wedding and their may be a lockout in the NFL next year. Maybe perfect storm part II.

Baltimore Ravens OC Cam Cameron

Why does this name keep getting brought up? I just can't see it happening. I'd love for it to happen, but I just can't see him leaving the NFL.

I agree it is a long shot, but I have two words for you Charlie Weis.

Cameron

1. NFL collective bargaining agreement...
2. Best friends with Miles.
3. Heard rumor that he was nt getting along with the people in BAL.
4. Miles seems to be taking his time.

Weis' son is at UF. The offense in KC seems like a Miles/Crowton struggle with Weis/Haley.

Im aware of their ties and would love nothing more than Cam to coach here but...

helping son's future>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> good friends

ETA: it seems of the pro prospects that Cam would be the most likely to jump

I like that list. There are several guys there that would make me really happy, and really none who would leave me feeling cheated. I hope this guys knows what he's talking about.

Cam Cameron would be a great hire.

I actually thought Belowpar might be Cam Cameron early on. Still not convinced he's not.

Yeah, the OC of an NFL team has nothing better to do than post to a college football fan message board!

Add to the list Terry Bowden and Major Applewhite.

Yeah I know it sounds far fetched and frankly I'd rather not know for sure because I don't want him to stop posting here.
But consider this, he's someone who is close enough to Les that he knows as much as he does before anyone else and is usually dead on. His info is seemingly straight from Les.
Also in an early post he stated he had never attended an LSU football game prior to the 07-08 BSCNCG so he's not an LSU insider.
So he's inside Les's inner cirle but outside of LSU's inner circle. Why anyone in that unique position would choose to spend his spare time on a message board is beyond me but he does and I do appreciate it.
That's my theory. Take it for what its worth.

I really hope Les takes his time and makes a great choice.

I hope coach talks and visits with numerous potential candidates.

I'd be willing to bet there is a lot of interest out there for our OC position.

Les has a new 7 year contract.
The OC position is officially open.
We appear to be a pre-season Top 5 team.

I'm thinking, we'll get someone good.

My preference:
1. Cam Cameron
2. Jim Chaney
3. Tom Clements
4. Steve Kragthorpe
5. Steve Logan

That is a solid list IMO, but Cam would be far and away #1

Does that make sense if we promote Gonzo? Either way, with both Gonzo and Monken on the staff, who's going to coach QBs?

I say this, primarily because I like Monken and am trying to find a way to make it work that doesn't include the prefix "Co-" ANYTHING.

I could live with that top 5, but mine would likely be:

1. Cameron
2. Chaney
3. Nussmeier
4. Clements
5. Fuente

Cameron and Chaney are my clearcut favorites. The other 3 are really in no particular order.

so you think a guy who is not even an LSU guy would spend time on an LSU msg board giving out inside information related to his best friend? cool.

NFL assistants could be willing to move with the labor situation still unsettled.
Not only that, but going to work for a coach that just inked a new 7 year deal and for a school that has a history of giving coordinators multi year deals has to be attractive to some NFL assistants that are working on year to year contracts.

Belowpar is Les Miles.

Have you ever seen them both at the same time? Just sayin'.
