The upvotes are speaking for themselves. OP is right about O and right about the unwillingness to adapt of Louisiana. The only goddamn part of the state that's evolved in the last 50 years is NOLA, and it took one of the worst natural disasters in history to spur it. Oh and guess what? A huge portion of that evolution is happening because of "outsiders." IN FACT, I would say the rebirth of NOLA would have never even HAPPENED if it wasn't for the "outsiders" that came here to save the city. God knows the rest of the state wasn't getting off their arse to help. Hell, it took me moving there for college to do anything, myself.

I don't understand why so many Louisiana people think it's "this" or "that." We can marry the old with the new. An outsider can adopt LSU's tradition just as much a Coach O can. I would like to believe Coach O can adapt just as much as a native Louisianian, but the Bama and Florida losses say otherwise.

I'm riding for Herman. But one Plan B and another Plan B are both Plan B's at this point. Not sure why Coach O has to take so much shite because he's from down on the Bayou or because he appeals to the LSU fans that are "less sophisticated". It's not really his fault that he engenders support and loyalty, right?

He's an accomplished Coach with some notable deficits and he's being reduced to cartoon stature like he's the love child of Sarah Palin and Curly Hallman. Especially when the same guys running down Louisiana parochialism are popping names like Gundy and Fedora. Coach O as Plan B doesn't seem much different than Plan B as Mike Gundy. Both feel like "settling". If we "settle" for Coach O it's the same to me as settling for one of these other luke-warm guys. Just kicking the can down the road and praying things work out and that we have some dumb luck.

He's an INCREDIBLY accomplished assistant Coach and recruiter. He is a natural leader of men and brings rare enthusiasm. He did a good job in the interim at two great programs. But, unfortunately for him, he was miserable at Ole Miss. We all know the score. But he's NOT the cartoon you portray.

No one hates Orgeron. I really like the guy. Hes got a great personality and the players LOVE him. Hes an amazing recruiter and a good position coach. He wouldnt have been at USCw if he wasnt.

The problem with hiring a guy like Orgeron that is neither an offensive or defensive genius is that you dont lock down one side of the ball. He would have to rely on constantly hiring top notch coordinators and anytime they get good at their job a HC position comes calling and they take off. Its constant attrition in the coaching staff. You cant have sustained success that way. How long does Aranda stay around if Orgeron is HC? Imagine if LSU had a bad-mediocre defense to go with this offense. How many games LSU wins then? The rest of the SEC is laughing at LSU for considering hiring a guy that was a DL coach that no other school was even considering for a coordinating position much less a HC position. Theyre also licking their chops.

People in Louisiana are prisoners of the moment and nepotistic, self-gratifying, back-slapping good ole boys. Thats why we always fail and fall behind the rest of the country. Orgeron is the feel good hire. You shouldnt be relying on emotion to make a multi-million dollar decision. Use your logic for once or expect to be emotionally disappointed.

They all voted for Trump too, so,yeah there's that. Louisiana is such a backwoods lagoon, it's not even funny. If you've ever lived anywhere else like I have, you understand why it's the laughing my stock and last at everything. Continuing to vote against their own self interests, mostly, because of race is one of the main reasons.

Boom. I'm trying to explain this same thing to my brother. You don't give the keys to a major college football program for at least 3-4 years to an UNPROVEN HC.

LOL you're kind of proving my point. You immediately look to rejection as a means to escape the problem. Your insecurity immediately comes out.

You say " you can always move" well that's the point... I have moved. I spent 10 years out of Louisiana. I've seen the world. Louisiana is extremely fricked up. If you haven't noticed that, then you haven't been many places, and that also proves my point. I moved back here out of guilt. One of my friends, who is a college professor, once told me; that's the thing with Louisiana, all the intelligent people move away because they realize there's no hope. Well, i'm just pointing that out. You really are proving my point here.

Oh look everybody. It's the most blatantly racist fricktard in board history bringing a conversation about Coach O around to racism. Shocking.

tell your professor friend to get a real job instead of pushing their liberal agenda to professional students who, after graduation, move back with their parents with their $100K student loan which will never be paid off.

You have to remember that this was Ole Miss before they payed players. Who has ever been successful at Ole Miss doing it the right way, and that's including have a #1 NFL draft pick at QB

Uh, he was worse than the coach who came before him and the coach who came after him. In the last 20 years, 3 of Ole Miss's 7 losing seasons came under O's tenure.

He was the worst of the worst.
