He will place a fence around Louisiana, and still recruit Texas hard. Louisiana gives him much better athletes/talent than he has currently overall at OU. He will need to find and hire a top notch DC. Nussmeir and Howard as his QB's will flourish. He is the whale Woodward is fishing for and will catch.

I want to believe but Riley coming to LSU is about a 0.00013145% chance. He's setup perfectly at an arguably more prestige program in OU. I'm sure he'd listen but probably use us to get a raise on OU. LSU is not taking a coach from Oklahoma who's a top 5 team every year and is setup nicely with the environment around him.

Maybe he'd seriously listen if we gave him a crazy deal he couldn't refuse but I'm sure he'd give OU a chance to match. Investigations are something this board is not paying attention to or listening. This alone will prevent many big names from taking an LSU offer because they have too much uncertain about it.

Did you think you'd win a national title with a coach who basically had a losing record as HC in his career? You're crazy if you think Riley wouldn't win a NC or multiple ones here. He'd keep you with elite talent and elite QBs with an elite offense too.

If LSU wanted to offer crazy money this is the guy to do it to. Would setup for when Saban retires and he's still young.Only worry would be what's his aspirations to the NFL?

He already knows he can't win a NC at OU. He can and will at LSU.

OU and LSU seems like lateral moves. Why would he leave a prestigious program at OU?

He also sees the expectations of LSU on top of looming investigations that could damage the program. They've fired 2 coaches in 5-6 years. That's not exactly appealing for a guy who constantly underachieves at OU come playoff time. OU is so use to it with Stoops they deal with it for Riley. I think OU's problem is they have to national recruit which is their biggest disadvantage against LSU. They do a great job national recruiting but not quite good enough to put them over the hump. That's LSU's only selling point to Riley right now. He's coming to SEC in a few years time. OU will pay him if they want him to stay. Not happening and the only mention of Riley has been on here as a dream.

I'm sure Woody would love to offer him the LSU job but knows he's not coming here.

Yep, the 900lb gorilla sitting in the corner but the board doesn't want to notice. Your telling the truth but this board will bury its head in the sand.

The Feds are digging around, I hope it doesn't scare off whichever coach Woodward is looking at.

Stupid take. He can win more at SEC once OU joins the SEC.

How long was Miles here for again? And he wasn't even an above avg coach.

O being fired that quickly is not the norm.

He would also have an insane deal that would pay him out unreal money if he were to be fired. Which would be incredibly unlikely.

I don’t even give the Riley stuff a second thought.

But, the “they fired 2 coaches in 5 years” screed needs to go, too.

Not a single coach mentioned in any serious ways looks at Les Miles and Ed O and thinks ‘if they fired THOSE two….I am in trouble’.

Jeebus. Les and O being fired after winning NCs is not what these coaches will think about . Les and O actually WINNING NCs is the story.

He'd go from a stable cozy program comfortable with him to an unstable unknown program with possible NCAA sanctions coming on them. He's also playing in the SEC which continues to get harder to win in. Yes, it's a stupid take from you. Take the P&G glasses off. He's not coming to LSU.

I’m optimistic that it will be Riley. If that doesn’t happen, I’m ok with Napier or Aranda.

I look forward to the next 2 months of progressively crazier candidates, though.
Let’s ride this crazy train!

If Woodward could pull in Riley that would perhaps make him the best ad of all time. Use every bit of tackle in your tackle box to pull in this white whale.

Something LSU fans will never admit is this job is not as attractive as LSU fans make it out to be. They think we can just raid someone like Oklahoma for their coach is laughable. Ask yourself why did we end up with Orgeron? Yes, Alleva was a dumbass but coaches used LSU to get the money they wanted. They didn't take the job. We flirted with several coaches and none of them ended up here. You may have to settle for a guy like Napier as a fallback Tier B guy but it's a damn good Tier B fallback option.

Money isn't everything in coaching searches and there's plenty of negatives surrounding LSU right now. Not to mention they have to move to Baton Rouge which is a negative in itself. The upside for us is there's always that 1 guy who wants to prove something but the problem is finding him. Who knows maybe Riley has such a big ego he'd make that move but I highly doubt it.
