I totally agree with Billder . Napier is the guy . Culture , organization , player development , recruiting , right age . Think what he can do with our athletes !

What exactly has he done to warrant becoming a coach at LSU? I mean, what is there in his résumé of accomplishments that makes him a top choice?

Franklin has been successful at Vandy, not an easy feat, and Penn State a program that was in disarray not long ago.

If I had to make a choice between those two, I’m going with the guy who has proven he could win in the SEC and the Big Ten as opposed to the guy who’s winning in the sun belt.

Dabo fired Napier. FIRED Saban took him as an analyst let him be WR coach but refused to promote him to OC so many times he left for AZ State. ...

He definitely coached with Dabo and Saban. But…..

I think if you can hire Franklin you certainly hire him over Napier....what you don't do is hire another guy like Les Miles or Ed Orgeron over Billy Napier....that's what you don't want.

Let's be accurate. As the youngest coordinator in FBS at the time he led Clemson to their highest point total in program history. The second year with an average QB and limited O talent they struggled so Dabo fired him.

Saban hires him as an analyst and after 1 season he's offered the OC/AHC job at Colorado St by McElwain. One year later Saban wants him back and he coaches WRs (very successfully). In 2017 Kiffin leaves to be a HC, Cristobal leaves for Oregon and Saban has an opportunity to hire Sark. Of course he picks Sark because he's got a long history as a great OC. So he gets offered OC job at Ariz St. There in his 1st season the Sun Devils improved 40 spots in the FBS in offense. They also finish tied for 1st in all of the FBS in red zone efficiency.

Then Napier gets offered the job at ULL and has 2 10+ win seasons which are the only double digit win seasons ULL has ever had.

People need to stop getting hung up on the fact that he coaches at ULL. Napier is a very good coach. He's taken everything he learned at Bama and used it as a model to build the program at ULL.

Jordy thinks Napier is top 3 on the list and was tipped off this opportunity was coming. That’s why he has stayed put.

Kiffin left Alabama right before the National Championship. Saban promoted Sark (offensive coordinator of the year in 2020) instead of Napier. Something 99% of all coaches would have done if they know how to apply logic. Napier thought he deserved a shot and took off. He is now about to win 30+ games in 3 years. Give me that guy all day long. Use some context next time.

Good for him. Let’s just remember that he’s doing all this winning while playing a schedule that would be like 110 in the country for strength of schedule

He might be the next Nick Saban, but jumping from the sun belt to the SEC wast is as different as nite is to day

Fair points. Precedent is there though. Hugh Freeze jumped from the Sun Belt to the SEC West and in time did a decent job. With a much more run down program than the one LSU has currently. Napier probably should not be the number 1 option, but the upside is there for him to do great things in Power 5 football

Coach O has done a decent job and won a national championship. The problem is, a decent job hasn’t cut it at LSU for over two decades.. Miles took LSU to two national championship games and won more games at LSU for a decade than any other SEC school in the same time. Both of those guys got fired.

I might be wrong. I sure in the hell was wrong thinking that LSU would never hire Coach O, I don’t think our current AD is going to turn the program over to anyone who hasn’t at least been somewhat successful when playing with the big boys.

You would be foolish to turn your nose up at this guy...he will be successful at the highest level.

Hes also cheap, with all the buyouts you'd think it would matter but TAF dont care.

I dont fault fans for saying LSU shouldnt gamble on up and comers (Curley H) just poach those who can do it...because we're LSU

Just understand that mindset makes for turnover every 5 years or so....this guy could be a 15-20 year coach that brings stability, something this program needs desperately. I did not enjoy the Miles/O fiasco or the subsequent coordinators avoiding this place like the plague

Give me the guy who wants the job so bad hell walk here. (right across the basin bridge)

Jordy gets his info from me

Or more likely we both know people that know the people that are knowledgeable about this stuff.
