That was pretty crappy of Michigan to treat Miles like that.

He loves the school, would love to go back, and instead of taking his calls, the AD goes sailing.

I hope OSU beats the hell out of them every time they play them. That was nothing short of publicly spitting in Miles's face.

What was he supposed to do -- he had already promised Skip not to discuss anything until after after the SEC Championship game????

Is he supposed to be stirring stuff up with Miles on the Friday night before the game????

Do you think Martin would have talked to Miles after the game?? Of course.

Martin's got to be an idiot.

Skip had been quoted in newspapers leading up to the game in saying that Martin could talk Miles through intermediaries (agents, headhunters, etc.) before the game, just not directly to him.

Once Martin had gotten the call from Miles' agent that night, he should have either returned the call OR, if he thought it might be a violation of the terms to do so, get it OKed with Skip to return the agents' calls.

That would have moved the situation from "Martin's incompetent" to "I tried to return his agents' calls, but Skip said it was not allowed and would result in an interference lawsuit."

I'm surprised no one has taken the angle that LSU played dirty in all this. BTW, not my belief, but I surely thought someone might have taken that shot by now.

Did he really just figure,..."This is the most important hire of the decade for us...i'll just go sailing for the weekend, not return phone calls, and LSU won't try something before we talk to Miles"?
This is absurd naivete' and shows the arrogance of Martin.

Your right, allowing Carr to retire the week of the Arkansas game was not a distraction. Asking permission to speak with Miles on the Wednesday before the game didn't create a shitstorm. Precedent had already been set. Michigan didn't give a shite about our season. If they had to take Miles they would do it on their terms not his. That's what this is all about.

Yup. That pretty much sums up the whole clusterfrick that is this coaching search. I wish that damn boat had sank.

Oh, trust me in saying that many Michigan fans have taken this stance.

To be honest, I'm not so sure they're wrong. They claim LSU forced Miles into making a decision Friday night, knowing Martin would call on Sunday. Who knows what happened, we probably never will. Furthermore, if LSU did do that, I really don't thing there is anything wrong with that ... that is exactly what I would hope our officials would be doing: making damn sure that we keep our successful coach here! The only question I would have here is that all of the bargaining power was in Miles' hands in my opinion. How would LSU be able to force Miles into a corner is beyond me, unless everyone involved thought we would lose the SECCG, and I guess that is possibly something that Miles and his agent were afraid of, and really LSU's only bargaining chip.

There are so many conspiracy theories, and I think most of them could be ruled out if we only knew if Michigan truly did want Miles. Maybe Michigan didn't want Miles and this was a well-thought out plan between Martin and Bertman to let everyone be happy in the end? They did speak earlier in the week! lol

That's ridiculous. He was and is LSU's coach, and he is under contract with us. We are paying him. We can talk to him whenever we want to.

Unreal.

I agree that they treated him like shite but can't say much. I think Alabama treated coach Croom like shite when he interviewed for the BAMA job. the hired Mike Shula over him and there was no comparison between experience. Not hiring coach Croom was a huge mistake by BAMA in my opinion. I think he is a great coach and a class act.

I didnt even bother reading the posts...no need to. Think it has all been said.

He should of got an interview.

But if BM is indeed running interviews, and Les blew up so he didnt get a chance, he is gonna kick himself later.

Read all the crap in the papers up there they have not given up on Les yet. They are circulating a petition and making pledges to pay his salary. LOL look at the Detroit Free Press. Man for Michigan to be such a big program they sure have some dumbarses running it.

Truth be known, i bet UM had no intentions of hiring Les. I bet it was nothing more than a courtsey interview. Why the heck would they call to line up and interview and leak it to press the week of the SECGC? Cause a distraction Probably to pay him back for the Jai Eugene and the Fla vote over UM last year. I bet Les's folks found out it was a rouse. Learne Carr and some others were throwing under the bus and said screw it. Make matters worse they probably called Herbstreit to help distract the whole SECGC more.
