Sitake is a Mormon in his dream job. I don't see him leaving.

That would be such a weird hire imo. Sitake doesn't even seem like the type of coach to leave byu.
Even more than BK coming here. Sitake is Mormon and an alum. He’s never coached in the Eastern US. And he already has BYU on the doorstep. It’s seems like a crazy move.

PSU blinded by delusions of grandeur.

Man Sitake has a good thing going at BYU, might even be easier for him to make the playoffs in the Big 12 vs Big Ten at PSU. And he's an alum. I don't get him leaving, but money talks.
I agree, but his seat has gotten warm in Provo a couple of times before. Despite his recent success, BYU is a unique job with some recruiting challenges. He might be ready to cash in at an elite program while he can.
Bronco Mendenhall had a good thing going at BYU too, and he turned down other offers for years before finally leaving for UVA.

Well shite. I was hoping he would hold out another year and we could get him when we canned Beamer. I figured Penn State would get him if he did leave.

Which turned out to be a mistake.

i agree with the dead program sentiment, but UCLA is a great school, great campus, lots of hot coeds, low expectations, etc..
i mean, it's a power 5 job with minimal expectations... not a terrible gig to possibly parlay into a bigger job in a few years

Should have canned Beamer a month ago.

BYU coach.
very underrated coach... he's a very, very good coach
looks like he's gonna drop dead from a heart attack at any given moment, but a damn good coach

Terrible decision by him. UCLA is a shite job

Never should have hired him to begin with.

Did it? Mendenhall took a dormant program to an ACC Championship Game and the Orange Bowl.

True. I just remembered how bad it ended.

JMU needs to be banging down the door to join the ACC. They have a lot of money flowing into their athletic department right now and I think they can be the be the top college football program in Virginia in the next decade. The Franklin hire is a home run for Va tech so that’ll get them back the crown for now but JMU needs their shot to join a bigger conference. Or just wait until two mega conferences. Probably headed that way soon anyway.

About as good as they could have done given the circumstances

Will Joffrey Neuheisel be retained?

Idk about that. They're currently 11-1 with the only loss being to a really good Texas Tech team and people are still saying they may be out if they lose to Tech a 2nd time. If they do miss the playoffs then I think it's easier to make them at Penn St, at least there they'll be able to get at large bids.

I live in PSU country and it has been dead silent on who they're targeting. It seems like they picked the worst year imaginable to fire Franklin with so many other high profile jobs coming open.

Penn State just isn’t that high in the pecking order in the Big Ten anymore and it just doesn’t have that national rep anymore.
