Candidates for "play-caller" appear to be down to four:
•Major Applewhite - Assistant head coach, running backs
•Bryan Harsin - Offensive coordinator, Boise State
•Chad Morris - Offensive coordinator, Tulsa
•Jim McElwain - Offensive coordinator, Alabama

•Stacey Searles - Georgia OL coach
•Bob Bostad - Wisconsin OL coach
•Joe Wickline - Oklahoma State OL coach
•Chris Klenakis - Arkansas OL coach


Miami Coaching Search
•Will Muschamp is “involved” at Miami. Defining “involved” is a little sketchy.

•The Miami AD is Kirby Hocutt and Hocutt is thought to have offered the job to Dan Mullen of Mississippi State. Mullen has not given Miami an answer.

•If Mullen passes, then the next candidates appear to be Randy Edsall, Kevin Sumlin and Will Muschamp, in that order.

•Both Edsall and Sumlin are not locks to be offered though, so Hocutt could rearrange the order based on his discussions with the candidates. Hocutt is in New York for the Hall of Fame banquet tonight but finding a new coach is job one.

•Muschamp has not been contacted about the job as of yet but will be if Mullen passes.

•If Mullen takes the job, Mississippi State is yet another job Muschamp will be mentioned for.

•Until Mack and Muschamp get together on a time line for succession, Muschamp and his agent are going to continue to get feelers and make decisions accordingly.


Tim Brewster
•Ex-Minnesota Coach Tim Brewster could have a position on the Texas staff. What "position" is the appropriate question.

•He could wind up being the assistant head coach and either co-coordinator or heading up special teams.
