Texas and LSU finished the year with pretty similar offense numbers I believe.

Are you kidding? Greg Davis is not one of the best OC's in cfb. He is terrible.
Pre-VY, every Texas fan I know wanted Davis gone. Davis had success with VY and then Colt McCoy.
Basically, when he has an elite player, Davis' offense works. That isn't saying much for Davis.
Davis sucks.
Now....I think Crowton also sucks, but I just wanted to point out that the idea that Davis is good is pretty laughable.

Texas didn't go 10-2
So going 10-2 is a good reason to have 3 consecutive seasons of bad offense? Genius logic. Where would LSU be with a average offense this year?

I fully expect Mack to flex his "frick you I'm untouchabl"e muscles and promote Applewhite.

Maybe he's looking at the glass half full? 93rd this year is better than 112th last year right?

No link, but listen to the guys that cover UT for orangebloods and ESPN Austin. All say he was great, especially as a qb coach, but most agree the move is necessary.
And as far as other media outlets reporting it isn't going to happen, I'll take Chip Brown's word for it. He has a pretty good track record when it comes to breaking stories involving the longhorns.

We did not go 10-2 this season thanks to Crowton's offense

Whoever coached up VY and Colt should get the credit... I dont think they came in as Heisman runner-ups..
And I know a many of UT fans want GD gone..def as many as we want GC gone

Whoever coached up VY
For the first year and a half, Mack and Davis were trying to fit a square peg into a round hole with VY.
Pretty sure Mack made the decision to go to a spread option offense, and it did wonders for Vince.

Colt
They just kept the ball rolling. Colt was naturally intelligent and gifted, so he picked it up with ease. Not much coaching necessary.

I am pretty sure Mack made the call to change the O this year and it went South..
Both Vice and Colt benefited from red-shirting... While VY was athletically gifted, his passing numbers progressed as he got older.. I would think coaching was apart of both of their success..
I am not saying GD is awesome, but he might deserve some credit or whoever coached them

Greg Davis would be an upgrade from Crowton. He has demonstrated an ability to develop quarterbacks and that is what we need here. He also will ride his workhorse is he has one. Part of our problem has been getting away from what is working under Crowton.
I think Les and Greg would be a good match. If it fails, get rid of both in a year or two.

I have a hard time believing those who arbitrarily assign player success to a coach. It is hard to know what factors really are determinate.

But a positional coach does play a huge role in development.

I have no agenda. I just have always thought Davis was a crappy OC. Most Texas fans I know agree with that.

Agreed. And VY and Colt ar enow playing in the NFL. Does Greg get no credit for that?
I don't know really how good he is as a developer of QB's or an OC. I just think it is very easy to take shots at people without treally knowing the truth (admittedly, very few people KNOW the truth).

Yeah, sorry about that. Bad day at work. You are entitled to your opinion.
ETA: I edited the "agenda" comment.
