Apparently they want a guy with experience as an NFL HC
Shanahan would be LULZtastic for many reasons
Lovie is a good coach but i dont think he would give the shot in the arm/energy that that team needs.
Wade Phillips is a courtesy interview imo, is he even interested in the job? They made it seem like he was happy being a coordinator after his dallas stint

Well, there are limited options on PROVEN NFL-caliber HC's and there really aren't a lot of guys in the college world right now who are potential home-run hires. Lots of high-risk, high-reward type guys. I see the mindset of taking a proven guy who might start 8-8, 9-7, 10-6 in his first few years rather than taking a big name college guy who COULD put you to 13-3, 14-2 (see: Jim H) in a year or two but is more likely to blow it (see: Schiano)

Sounds like more of the same. Dull, safe, uninspiring hire. McNair better make a splash with this hire. They need an energetic alpha male to go in and kick some arse

If i were them id go after a great offensive mind with an energy to them. Im not really sure whose available but i would take a shot with this one, they cant get much worst than what they are.
That roster is talented, they just need some change at the helm for HC and QB. Phillips, Smith and Shanahan are the opposite of that.

No way Saban doesn't coach that last game with AJ at QB. Plenty of arrangements yet to work out.
Base salary is a joke. Pocket change. So much more earning potential in Texas outside of football. Their own network with ESPN. Advertising dollars all across the Big 12.
He's squeezed out everything in Bama, and will still sell there like Bear does. Gonna open his horizons now.

Mike shanahan is always connected to every coaching search for some reason. Imo shanahan and wade phillips are to old and burned out to be head coaches.
