Auburn is the dumpster fire and as much as I hate to say it UT is a first (Ok second) class program. They should be able to get a decent coach. I would think Kirby Smart, Dan Mullen, Charlie Strong, or Al Golden.

We don't want Smart. No more of Saban's stable boys.

That's understandable but Smart will make one helluva coach for someone. If I had to guess I would say Strong or Golden. Strong needs to step up now while he's hot and Golden needs to dump Miami (he doesn't deserve that mess).

Tubbs hasn't been mentioned?

I think he would be in the vol's price range.

edit: Sonny Dykes has a damn good resume.

Some of us are banned from TD, so we can't post on the CC board.

Tuberville has been mentioned by plenty of opposing fans. I have not seen anyone credible connect Tuberville to the job.

As far as cash, Dave Hart said that will not be a factor in this search. Whatever is needed will come from "external sources".

I think Mike Shula would be the perfect hire...and put Dooley at OC....That would be a dream team duo.

I saw some idiot posted that he heard Bob Stoops had contacted UT to say he was interested in the job. First of all I would love this if it were true. I would much rather have Stoopsmania than Grudenmania. Oh well dream on.

I'd go with Dykes. He has a nack for cleaning up Dooley's messes.

Trying to sell hiring another La. Tech coach would be hell. If Dykes was anywhere else he would likely be on the table.

Dooley
2007 5–7 conf. 4–4
2008 8–5 conf. 5–3
2009 4–8 conf. 3–5

Dykes
2010 5–7 conf. 4–4
2011 8–5 conf. 6–1 1st in conf.
2012 9–1 conf. 4–0

Dykes almost beat A&M earlier in the year.

He seems legit.

I'm hoping for Gruden, Patterson, or Strong.

After that, I'm not sure what Tennessee plans to do at all.

Why are yall falling all over yourselves for Gruden? The guy had a 95-81 record in the NFL which isn't exactly spectacular, and has never been the head coach at the college level.

Gruden
Strong
Mora
Patterson
Dantonio
Petrino

NFL is different from college.

Stallings was a shitty NFL coach. Solid college coach.

Nah, he doesn't have a Super Bowl win or anything.

OK, but he's never coached at the college level.

Stallings was pretty bad when he was at A&M.

Ok, the guy walks into a plush situation and wins the Super Bowl. As soon as he began to run things it was a couple years of mediocrity, then getting canned.
