Actually, I did. However, one season does not make a program. He was keeping them in games (ok in the first half) and recruited pretty well. It could get worse.

Agreed. I think Sherman was turning things around with recruiting, but it takes time to build a program up. I'd have kept him for another two years and then gone after a big hire if available.

Sherman is too soft. He should be coaching Div III someplace where they like a big name over winning.

He's more ridiculously conservative than he is soft.....there are worse NFL head coaches. I think him getting a job at a crap franchise like TB isn't out of the question. If you rank all NFL head coaches that are currently coaching or looking for a job, he could fall in the 25-30 range.

My thought. He's in that Sylvester Croom mold of coaches. Run the ball play defense and pass if you have too.
aTm just needs more talent and that was the one thing Sherman was turning around a little bit. The biggest thing in college football is getting talent. That's what seperates the haves and have nots.

I still think we have it on the offensive side of the ball....we had 2 injured 4-5 star RBs by the end of the season, and dropped balls all season long. Are the injuries bad luck, or poor conditioning? Are the dropped balls due to poor coaching, or all around over rated WRs? Whose fault is it that the killer instinct wasnt there for the entire game on offense; was it the coaches fault, or our senior leaderships fault?
At the end of the day, I think the right coach could have gotten a lot more out of this offense. Our D wasn't great, but they did enough to allow a so called top 5 offense to win the game. When you score a combined SEVEN points in the 3rd quarter of losses, someone has to be accountable.

I don't disagree - I just think this may have been a bit premature. I honestly think he may have competed for a conference championship next year.
Sumlin - we will see how this plays out 3-4 years from now.

I still can't believe we fired Sherman but it was the right move...if he stayed another year or two then recruiting would have suffered and the next coach would have a bigger hole to come out of see....see Sherman re-building team after Fran was let go. Sherman had his chances to show he was a good college coach and during his tenure he was a .500 coach...not good enough at A&M.
