Would be the worst hire they could make. Seriously, he is not good in any aspect of coaching.

i have some huge issues with Sumlin. he infuriated me in many many ways, but to say he's not good at any aspect of coaching is ridiculous. unlike Franchione, i truly hope he finds himself a good spot and succeeds. i highly recommend Tennessee avoid any QB controversy if they go that route. that was his undoing more than anything.

Speaking with many fellow VolTwitter Monsters today, the consensus is that we wouldn't "Scalp" Sumlin. We wouldn't be pumped about the hire, but wouldn't be pissed enough to reVOLt.

Sumlin and Butch Jones are very close friends, very likely Sumlin declines the offer.

I think that Sumlin was the man they've wanted from the onset.

With Manziel and Keemun yes, without not so much.
Holgorsen at Houston with Keenum.

Sumlin wasn't qualified for the A&M gig and never should have been hired.

He definitely received the PC preferential treatment there, but it all eventually comes out in the wash.........

Yup. Both qbs were inherited, and he rode Briles coat tails to the big gig. Aggies got so duped there.

I bet you feel CEO was more than qualified for the LSU job too! No Good Ole Boy "preferential" treatment there, I guess. It only comes out when people of color get a rare opportunity at a high profile institution. FYI, A&M is now a better job than when Sumlin first got there.

His offense is entirely dependent on the OC. He doesn’t have a system and we had 4 OCs in 6 seasons at A&M. One of them (Kliff) was good and that was with Manziel

Maybe aTm should have gone after kliff and dropped Sumlin when things went downhill?
