High character coach that can beat Saban? Keep dreaming.

What's next, a sports car that gets you 40 mpg?

Briles is 70 years old. That would be a bad hire because we would be looking for a new coach in 5 years. But what do we care about character? I mean the only thing that matters is the W's and the NC's right? That and a really cool offense.

I mean you just lobbied for and were successful at removing a guy of high character who averaged winning 10 games a year. You just did not like the way he won ( neither did I) but he won.

People trying to put marital infidelity in the same league as one turning a blind eye to rampant rape is really making me lol/smh.

I'm with the OP. I keep seeing the "as long as he wins, I don't care about his values or perception"

Idk about kiffin. He has a bad rep, and he isn't a very likable guy, but the rest isn't that bad. I just don't know if he would win

Petrino- please no. I'm sure he would win. But he is such a piece of human garbage, I don't know how I would react. I don't know if I can cheer for him, and I know a lot of other lsu fans that feel the same

Winning is the priority. We're not hiring a sunday school teacher. That being said, id prefer a classy guy if we can get it. Im confident that these 3 gusy could come in and win right away. So in order the list should be:

Herman
Jimbo

Petrino

I'd be OK with Petrino. He made a serious mistake and he was repentant. Although I'd prefer Jimbo to him on football grounds.

Briles I would not be OK with.

Kiffin, I don't understand why we would want him even if he was of sterling character? He had a great opportunity at USC and he washed out. I know he's been a great offensive coordinator with Alabama but I don't trust him on football grounds.

Petrino is worse than Kiffin which ain't sayin much. Him repenting was an act. That is not the only blemish on his record. Before having an affair with the Arky all teeth staffer, he had no class in parting with the Atlanta Falcons. The short: he resigned and didn't even have the balls to tell his team. I think he left a note and had an assistant coach tell the team... something like that. I am a Saints fan so don't really care about the Falcons, however that was a shitty thing to do.

The only thing LSU values is winning, don't act high and mighty.

Petrino is a much better coach that Kiffin is. If we're dumpster diving, might as well get the guy who can win.

Stop suggesting we hire coaches of questionable character as our HC! I have seen some assclown posters suggest names such as Petrino, Kiffin, Briles, etc.

Would they be succesfful as our new HC? Petrino, probably. Kiffin, doubt it. Briles, maybe but that is not the point.

I want LSU to be the best team every year but not at the expense of degrading our values. LSU is better than this.

Let me guess, you were perfectly happy with a head coach that sought out a player, who was kicked off one team for pleading guilty to sexual battery, to play quarterback at LSU for two seasons.

Is that the kind of character coach you seek?

This. I couldnt care less about petrino's sidedish at Arky.

Briles needs a couple years to cool off before a big time school will take a chance. Plus he's a too old.

I think we need an a-hole coach. Petrino would be incredible with this talent, but im not sure he would step on Louisville's toes again.

Petrino should remain an option before handing this program over to Coach O or Aranda. I'm not saying you hire Petrino but I would give him an interview for sure.

"IF". And there is no reason why LSU should dumpster dive. The Head Coaching at LSU is a very desireable. Saban turned the program around and Les added some funny (in the comedic sense) character to it. In the end, all faithful (not fairweather) LSU fans want LSU to win consistently and be national champions every year or at least be in contention.

Like I said, I think LSU should hire a younger coach to build a dynasty that will last decades. It is clear we want a coach that is offensively minded and can be dynamic enough to make adjustments to the team on the other side of the ball. I hope whoever comes as HC next year will keep Aranda on as DC.

Well if you're being honest firing a long tenured successful coach in September kinda runs off most established HC's and all you're left with are either young up and comers that will not satisfy the fan base or a handful of unscrupulous characters that have misplaced priorities.

I understand what you are saying but I am sure most if not all the high profile coaches out there know that Les was in hot water last year. It was all over ESPN. I doubt they would take the firing in September as a deterrent. In fact, I would think they would understand why it went down this way especially with all the talented athletes LSU has.
