When the A.D. has an open checkbook and the greenlight to establish a new benchmark in coaching salaries, that’s not pulling anything off. That’s being reckless and irresponsible.

Omg another cheap arse Joe Dean doesn't want to open the checkbook. Enjoy your bargain bin coach that would come for that

If it’s so easy and all it takes is money, then why does it never happen? (Elite coach leave great P5 job for another great P5 job)

Other schools have big checkbooks too. Many bigger than ours.

You created a new thread to tell a whole message board what not to say? Are you okay?

The way we toss all that money into football for a coach, while academically LSU can’t compete with most schools in the SEC, is being reckless and irresponsible if we’re being honest.

I’m happy, but man, LSU needs to attract better professors and facilities and improve it’s ranking academically.

I can’t for the life of me understand why people get upset about someone spending money that is and never will be theirs.

The money LSU will pay Riley will be peanuts compared to the money it brings in if Riley turns LSU into a consistent SEC Contender.

Do you keep changing your team affiliation? I thought I was crazy. I still might be but not about this!

This is so idiotic.

1 - the money isn't coming from the same place. LSU isn't paying professors less in order to pay a football coach.

2 - the amount of money LSU will bring it for the school, if Riley is here and highly successful will be a huge plus, not a negative. Ask Bama.

Yes , I believe it is reckless . Riley typically loses to SEC teams . Defense wins championships . He is all offense , in a 1B league . Some of their skinny offensive players could not survive SEC ball . It remains to be seen if boy wonder can put it all together in the SEC … and You want to give him 12
million/yr and a $100 million contract … after Aranda spanked his dumb arse handily !! Give me a break !! SW needs to check his ego at the door , or he will end up being the harpooned white whale !!
Aranda or Napier . Forget the rest .
