You're such a pussy.

I think people overestimate the willingness of another school to match what amounts to a shocking number.

Like, $15m is insane. It's $3m more than the GOAT coach (Belichick) makes, and $6m more than the GOAT college coach.

By way of thought experiment, lets say LSU went absolutely insane and Jeff Bezos decided to fund a new coach for LSU and we offered Riley a 10 year $300m contract. OU could technically match that. There's 0 chance they would.

Now obviously that would never happen, but there's a line there somewhere of what OU can match, but wouldn't. Would they match $10m? Certainly. $12m? Probably. $15m, fully guaranteed, 10 years? I think that's by no means a sure thing.

This is also why secrecy is important in deals. It can take a while to get a war chest together. There is a process. If you catch a school napping and/or they balk at first, you gained ground psychologically on the coach, "well, maybe I'm not as appreciated here as once thought."

Then, that's when they really start to listen to the pitch.

This is the LSU mentality pre Mark Emmert and post Mark Emmert that has led to subpar results. It's part of LA culture. Fortunately, Woodward bucks that trend.

Don’t count out Urban Meyer

Id probably have to store my LSU football gear for a bit. Until he imploded again.

Seriously, Cristobal will be out if he wins this weekend and the next because the Civil War will be an easy out. He'll be 11-1 and in the playoff picture and a PAC 12 Championship date with probably ASU. If it comes to a bidding war, Oregon has deeper pockets with Phil Knight among others and he won't be outbid by whiskey swilling oilfield baws

Ability to pay and willingness to pay are not the same thing. The former is irrelevant at this level of CFB.

You'll be a smarter fan of college football if you listen to Split Zone Duo, IMO.

Yep, it’s scratches the PAPN itch. And they always have some nice coach rumors talk.

Not a Jimbo fan. Wouldn’t complain if he is hired, but wouldn’t celebrate the hire.

If Jimbo is the hire, someone better call the suicide hotline for Loose Vag.

"someone extremely expensive that will reset the market on how we view exorbitant coaching contracts because Scott Woodward wants to basically erase what he did as an author at aTm."

So Godfrey says no to kiffin
possibly Cristobal
no to fickell
no to Campbell
smiling for Rilley
Kelly’s name is in the wind but not blowing south
Godfrey guarantees LSU will hire a good coach, but admitted he doesn’t know who it will be.
