todd graham, however, is a natural fit if we want a guy with proven BCS-level success at a 2nd-tier program
That would be the hire for LSU. He is also from TX, so he might have some good recruiting ties.

Todd Graham - ASU
What Mora has done at UCLA with shite facilities is more impressive than what Graham has done in the same conference.

fricking horrific, would get run out of town after one year. in order to survive at LSU, you MUST MUST MUST have a good defense.
And that's putting aside the fact that personality-wise, the guy is a flaming a-hole that makes Saban look like Santa Claus.
Not a good fit.

Id hope we would have a new AD before we have to find a new football coach.

Fisher Patterson Rodriguez Mora I think one of those 4 would take it.
you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. you are simply making this up.

I would also add that if Fisher got the job, Muschamp would 100% be the DC
I simply cannot think of a response to this. it is so far beyond idiotic that i'm speechless.
THE FACT IS that no one knows what would happen if miles leaves. since MOST other top schools have had to offer multiple prospective HC's their job before they found one to take it I think it reasonable to think LSU would be in the same boat. many coaches use vacancies to parlay a nice raise and contract extension. it OFTEN happens where the school has to settle. in fact, that happens most of the time.

forget names for a minute...qualifications:
FWIW
should be able to recruit SEC areas, Texas, possible West coast
should have shown that can turn a program around
should be between 38 and 50 or so, so that ENERGY is still there and can connect with younger players
should place a great value on Defense
should be creative and bring a balanced offense approach
should have shown to have some winning consistency over a few years.
should have had some NFL experience ... NFL teaches "match ups" better than college
this is my wish list...

Knowing when to call a timeout would also be a plus.

For all the hand-wringers out there who are afraid of what will happen if Miles leaves: you DO understand that Les Miles is not Almighty Zeus, right? He's not going to be here forever. We WILL eventually have to replace him.
You do get that, right?
No, no they do not get that.

Les took his son Manny to Michigan for a recruiting trip this year. I'm guessing it's for baseball, but the "right" coach could make sure he's got a scholly for football unless Manny doesn't want to play for dad.

If miles leaves you have a program that is a quarterback away from competing for a national title and has been consistently recruiting well and hope that your new hire keeps the train on the track.
Because if he doesn't LSU could be wandering the coaching wasteland for 4-5 years.

Yes, you're right. LSU football would be done if that happened.
