You don't lose 0-52 to an 0-9 team and keep your job when your current season is an "audition" season to see if your contract will be renewed.

What some people do not realize is that this was the last year on Jones' contract; a veritable unicorn in the current cfb coaching climate. The AD, and Jones himself, were waiting to see how it went to see if CJJ would be the guy to keep us moving forward.

Isn’t your coach trying to crawl out of Tallahassee right now?

He should have been fired after the loss to USL if not before after the loss to Idaho.

The guy did a great job of building the program.....but he just wasn't a good head football coach.

I think Tee Martin would be great for the job, and wouldn't mind seeing Derek Dooley, Chizik or Tubberville get the job. If not, I think it would be good for them to go after a strong FCS or D-2 coach. Just no more high school guys.

Yes it is. He got a win over Miss State and almost beat Tennessee a few years back. Bowl wins for a team that was playing military schools ten years ago.

You’re South Alabama. Right now UAB is on the rise and Troy is seen as the better job regardless of losing to South Alabama. Ladd is a horrible stadium, too. I went for the Okie State game. Top 10 OOC home game and it wasn’t full. Paid $10 to park in some guy’s backyard and it’s 15 minutes from campus.

My niece recently married a coach on staff at USA. He ain't talking but you can tell something wasn't right this past week. They have been all over the place this year. They beat Arky State and Troy, but lose to crap teams. This past week was a different animal. They got outgained by 5-1 by probably the worst team in the nation. there's usually a story behind that.

Would be deserved and make the most sense. He comes home and gets chance to win and earn a better job.

We've been to a few bowl games but did not win.

Almost beating Tennessee when they just aren't a good program at the time isn't anything to be satisfied with.

The best crowd we have ever had was against Mississippi St. and it was poorly organized. Mainly at the concession stands but a bunch of people were apparently unhappy with the whole experience.

I go to all of the home games. There isn't anything that you can tell me that I haven't heard or seen before.

Joey is a good guy but I think it's clear to anyone that actually follows this team that change was necessary.

Most of all Joey himself.

South Alabama fans know what good football is supposed to look like and we haven't been seeing it- that's the bottom line. Jones did a fantastic job getting us where we are but it's time for change.

Also, Troy sucks and football will just be another sport we whip their arse consistently in like everything else- it almost already is. Jones will finish his career with a winning record against the condoms.

No, no, and no. That’s akin to FIU hiring Ron Turner. You have to hire a young, energetic, up and comer for that job. Matt Luke or Tee Martin wouldn’t be terrible hires at all.

This is a good idea, and a plausible one.

Holy hell what? The last thing a program like South needs is some old school retread.

Ladd stadium is run by the city, and they are the ones who tend to screw things up

Sorry to see that. ( I was out of the Country) He is really a decent guy, but it is time. USA should always be grateful he got program off the ground and some great publicity and signature wins. ( But also some horrible losses)

i doubt he would take the job but if somehow we got Tee Martin that would a cannonball off the high dive!!

he can recruit this area real well already and wouldn't be as under much pressure to win at South than he would be at a bigger school.

I know its not gonna happen but no harm in dreaming
