Sorry but Mel Tucker doesn’t have the experience needed just yet for LSU.

I am sure Mel Tucker is a great guy, but as of right now his sample size as a Head Coach just isn’t big enough to make a determination that he should be the Head Coach at LSU
“ Overall Head coaching record
14–12 (college) -
5/7 CU “3-6 conf”
&
9-5 MSU “7-0 in 21”
2–3 (NFL) - Jacksonville
Granted he is having a great year so far at Michigan State but they haven’t played Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue or Michigan yet. So let’s pump the brakes a little bit and see how the year turns out. But if he loses to OSU, Michigan and Penn St for example, the year doesn’t look as great as it does right now that is for sure.
I am not saying he won’t be a great Head Coach, just saying he doesn’t have a big enough sample size regarding his head coaching experience to warrant the step up to LSU, especially since Mich State hasn’t even hit the meat of their schedule yet.

But he check off a box so that adds some experience numbers

The other 800 threads about this agree with you

How much experience must one have to be the LSU coach?

Really, you felt the need to go there?? What an a-hole!

More than 26 games with a 14-12 overall record as a HC

Just heard on the news that there is a coach available who won the national title just 2 years ago.

Doesn’t matter, he’s black, all depends on how much say Tate has.

After all of you dipshits claimed A&M was racist for firing Sumlin, you need to just shut the frick up and take it.

And no matter how good Tucker may be, Tate is setting him up for failure buy publicly pushing “diversity” over qualifications.
The LSU fan base would implode. If they think attendance is bad now, if Tucker starts out slowly next year, Tiger Stadium will be a ghost town.

That’s where it begins and ends for me. Dude might be an excellent coach, but the sample size is small. And if they decide to go that route for the next coach, why not go with Aranda who has a good rapport with the university, athletic department, and fan base?

The bottom line is the LSU brass publicly pushing diversity over winning and success. I don’t care if the new coach is purple, blue, black, white, or green…but a hire like this in this context signals it’s official winning is no longer important at LSU - only wokeness.

Just a reminder that 4 of top 5 teams in the AP poll today have coaches that were hired without prior head coaching experience (Smart, Fickell, Riley, Day). The right fit doesn't matter. I'm not advocating Tucker by any stretch, but it seems a new thread is popping up every few minutes to try to convince folks Tucker isn't the right guy.

And just a reminder those universities didn’t publicly announce they desired to only hire white coaches.

You have to be dumb to even believe the mel tucker rumors.
They threw that out there so people like you would spend all your time fighting over it.
I'll bet anyone on here 1k that mel tucker will not be the next coach at lsu.

Then that logic rules out Aranda as well.

I wonder if it would. I would hope so, but you never know. Multiple posters have said they would walk away from the program and the university for good if it's found out that Tate forced Woodward into a diversity hire.
