Thanks for the info! That would be weird to have a separate inside and outside WR coach. I also think hiring a younger recruiter for ST coach would be better and then leave Greg as an analyst.

Let's just be honest - this is a bad look for LSU. The fact that Jimbo is about to leave for College Station of all places, when he could have been at LSU last year, means there is an undeniable amount of incompetence and ineptitude in the LSU athletic department, which should concern every single fan.

We're either cheap, incompetent, or both. And that doesn't bode well for the future of LSU athletics.

Jimbo is a huge hire, and would have been a huge hire for us last year. If you're an LSU fan, yes, this should sting - we now have to play him on a yearly basis, but perhaps more significantly, we now have to recruit against him as well.

LSU's chronic weakness has been at QB - and Jimbo has a proven track record of recruiting and developing elite quarterbacks. Bringing in Jimbo last year would have set us up for the next decade, especially now that Saban is in the back half/third of his career.

Let's just not pretend like this isn't a significant development, or that we don't care, or that this hire doesn't matter. It matters - and it reflects incredibly poorly on LSU.

Not really, many spread teams have this break down. Essentially, one WR coach is the x and o's guy, while the other is the recuiter.

Ohh ok didn't realize that. Thanks. I asked you this in the other thread but do you think there could ever be a scenario where LSU promotes Aranda to HC since they are so keen on not letting him leave.

You're an idiot.

Coach O will win 10 games in his 1st season.

Jimbo did a shitty job this season and has been regressing since he lost his rapey and thieving QB Jameis. Jimbo also turned the FSU fans against him this season.

This will be a win for FSU and a mistake for the Aggies.

Not at all. The point is we paid 3.5 for three losses instead of 7.5.

Well with one coach there's upside. With Orgeron there isn't.

No one in their right mind thinks Orgeron could ever win a NC.

I mean it's a big time hire, but does it really reflect poorly on LSU? I don't get that logic. If we had to pay Jimbo a big salary then so be it, but that $40mil buyout was just not worth matching, imo. It also comes down to if the timing is right. Last year FSU was willing to take all the necessary steps to keep him. This year they called his bluff. So how does this make us look bad?

Alleva is to blame for LSUs incompetence. He is a Joe Dean level AD which is holding back LSUs programs. Fisher should be at LSU and knows how to develop a QB

O will give him a glowing recomendation to any opening!!
lol With that said, with the Canada's contract, neither side is walking away, unless Canada gets a comparable contract from another school. Meaning I believe he will be here next year regardless. There is to much money on the table. LSU wont fire him.

I am glad you finally said this so people will drop this bullshite. Canada isn't going anywhere regardless of the issues with him and O. There's no comparable openings for him right now. At this time LSU is his fastest way to a better job.

What dynamics changed for Fisher that we couldn't make a deal with him last year? Isn't LSU a better job than A&M?

Facilities. Jimbo wants to be a program that is willing to invest money in the area. FSU promised they would and they haven’t.

One thing he won’t have to worry about in Aggie land is a willingness to spend money on facilities. It’s a great move for him.

I would highly doubt it. Aranda is the AHC. He will be paid more than most G5 and lower P5 HCs without the headache. I am not sure Aranda wants a HC position because a HC has to do alot of non-football crap. Im not sure he wants that.

LSU fans have had their heads in the sand about our AD for years. People love to hate Chavis, and how he handled it was terrible, but he saw the writing on the wall. Our AD is terrible, and he wanted out because of it. Yes, we ended up upgrading, but Chavis was correct about what was coming for Miles.

The big difference this year is that he over played his hand. Jimbo pulled the same shite as last year on FSU this year and they basically said bye. They tried to give him some things to keep him but ultimately felt like what they have done for him was fair.

So it's more a matter of timing and FSU's will to negotiate. I dont like alleva, but A&M wouldn't have gotten him last year either.

Fisher agreed in principle with A&M in October, and Woodward was talking to him as far back as September.

This was never about just getting a raise. He wanted out. FSU boned him one too many times.

Yeah that is what I have read before also. Will not be good for Coach O when he does leave though.
