I’ve been hovering near the “don’t give a shite stage” for a few years now. I might just take that full step and be done with it. My fandom becomes a little more casual every year.

That’s the point of the early leak. Let a lot of people move past the anger so when the announcement is official they catch less shite for a horrible hire

But why are they so intent on making a hire if they’re ashamed of it?

I think we are more on the brink of the Belk and Independence Bowl more than anything.

If we would only maximize (or nearly so) the talent LA produces on both sides of the ball, dynasty is not an overstatement,

Apparently, some have become so accustomed to underachieving that championships are beyond even imagination.

I get what you're saying. But I don't really think this was the defining moment where you can say "well guys we really missed the boat on that dynasty we were building." That ship sailed and now it's just time to put the frickers who watched it float away several years ago out on their arse.

Frick denial. Frick grieving. Frick acceptance. I am thoroughly pissed and will remain so until someone is hired as our OC from outside. It's the only way a culture change can happen- to eliminate the root of the culture.

Let me build on what I wrote since more than one questions this:

When Arnsparger became HC, we would win the SEC in '86. He then abruptly left and Archer was promoted. We lost only to Bama when Hodson was hurt in '87 but still finished #5 in the final AP poll. We won the SEC again in '88. '89 was one of the great collapses in LSU history. Tons of talent on the field but Mike Archer was on the sidelines.

It is not far-fetched to think we could have won four straight SEC titles. Dynasty. Arnsparger had the vision.

We have an incredible amount of talent on hand and an excellent DC. What we don't have is a strategy on offense to compliment it. There is also a natural footprint for recruiting at LSU that has few rivals.

Dunno. Kinda hope not.

Personally, I'm probably too emotionally invested in all this now and need to step away.

I feel like we're on the 1 yd line in a championsip game needing a TD for the win. 3 TOs remaining. 30s on the clock and we just throw it away and let the clock run out without even getting a play off. We didn't even try.

If you watched that happen . . . that's how I feel.

Been in acceptance since 2012, sad.... I still go to games and come home hoarse. But LSU football has been ruined from the governor down to the coaches, and the system needs to go down

That’s where I have landed, Sport. The stupid decisions continually made by our admin has beaten me down. My “give a shite” meter is in the dangerously low range. I’ll watch on tv next season and always cheer for the Tigers but won’t invest another penny until the powers-that-be take LSU football as seriously as the fans that invest thousands, to tens of thousands, of dollars per year. It’s a damn shame.
