So who does USC go after if Meyer is not the guy?

It's a gig that will end up having back to back bottom of the PAC 10 recruiting class. A job that will not, or hasn't in the past, shown the willingness to open the checkbook for coaching staffs and shadow staff. A job that has lots, or has had lots, of booster influence.

If USC doesn't get this hire right it could set them back really far after the last two recruiting classes. Tons of potential, but the Cali recruiting ground isn't what it once was and has a lot more hands in the cookie jar now.

A strong USC is good for college football. Who do y'all think are possibilities outside of urban?

I think they go after Franklin and get him and Penn State gets Fleck.

Edit: I was getting my info on recruiting from their posters on we are SC, boy were they wrong, USC is fourth in overall talent. Does look like they have two good QBs also.

No Franklin. I find it funny that his name comes up. He had issues at Vanderbilt. There's no way the new prez signs off on him.

Rhule, Matt Campbell, or Chris Petersen.

Where are you getting this recruiting info? 247 had them #4 in the nation in 2018, #20 in the nation last year, and they are #76 right now for 2020. Talent is there to be had. No reason for USC or Texas to never recruit well or win. Urban will kill it in LA.

I thought it would be Matt Campbell before this season, figured with his record this year usc would shoot higher.

I think he would be a great higher. I would go after fleck first prolly over Campbell though.

Peterson is the best, but not sure he would go.

Petersen is at his dream job. He wouldn’t like the pressure cooker. Plus he’s turned them down before.

I think Mike Norvell would do incredibly well there. Was in the PAC-12 as an OC.

These two things seem incongruent.

Why don’t we just bury California football and let it rest? USC nor UCLA has been worth a shite in years. I used to love to watch their game when both were relevant and playing for the Rose Bowl. PAC 12 is shite now all around.

Did your sources tell you that?

Yes really. When a whole portion of the country isn't involved in the NC picture it hurts the sport.

Somewhat off topic, but if/when Helton is fired and Norvell inevitably leaves for another job (dear baby Jesus let it be Arkansas), Memphis may be a potential landing spot for Helton. He was an assistant for a decade under Tommy West at Memphis from 2000-2009.

what about Harsin at Boise? I know that is his alma mater but USC a much bigger job.

1. Irving Myers;
2. Matt Ruhle;
3. Harsin.

Harsin I believe would jump at the chance, but I think USC tries to make a splash hire this time.

If Alleva were still t he AD, they’d call asking for Ed, and then Alleva would give him a 10 year 80M contract extension.

I could see Harsin. Just don’t see them making a “splash” hire.

Everyone says Rhule is going to the NFL for his next gig.

Norvell would be really solid, but I'm not sure he's a big enough name for USC if they're trying to make a "splash" hire.

What about Bob Stoops?
