OLine played a lot better this year, yet our offense is still pathetic.

The line will have 1 new starter next year. Should be a pretty good line.

quote:agreed. we have a lot of young talent on the O Line. next year could be really good.

Ridley gained 1000 yards and Rushing Offense ended up 34th. The problem is not the Offensive Line and look somewhere else.

This...........plus this guy has come into to help with the coaching...

Run blocking was fine, pass blocking was atrocious. If you cant see that, go back and watch the games. Stud needs to be let go.

Agreed
I think it starts with our offensive "philosophy" or lack of one. Are we a power running team, a zone blocking team, an option team or a spread option team? I think if we went one direction or another, instead of all directions, our line would be able to pick a skill set/blocking scheme and go with it.
Another problem is the changing of QBs which lets the defense know what's coming and the offensive line has to switch up blocking for the diffent qbs.
Also, we don't make adjustments for our running backs to pass block. It's like watching a Steve Spurrier offense in the NFL.
Finally, the QB's inability to get rid of the ball quickly doesn't help either. Teams blitz our QBs because they can't complete a pass within six seconds. I'd like to see how long our QB's held the ball this year. I don't remember too many quick passes, except to D. Peterson in the middle of the field.

I agree, look at our positive plays passing. Almost all of it was first read quick hit stuff, like killing UF with that slant.
One of the only really good multiple read plays I can think of is when JL stepped up and hit RR in the Bama game on that criticle 3rd down.

no changes, if any, until after the bowl game
Les lets his assistants collect their bowl swag and bonus.

Stud is a stud...per the EGG

Yes. We're giving the reins to Crowton for the O line as well.

Ive posted here many times about Stud not getting it done. My bro in law has a Olineman he coached in HS on the team who has said Stud practicing consists of mostly drills. Very little emphasis on teaching techniques. Take it FWIW
BTW....I thought the Oline did improve this year over last year as a whole. However if Crouton and Stud were both replace it certainly would not hurt my feelings.

jesus.......the oline did lightyears better this year and did any of you even notice how much time our QBs typically had?!?!?!?!
I am not a fan of Stud, but if Big Ben hangs around, they will be even better next year with all the quality experience.
enough of the oline chatter.

spread option team?
we do not run spread option and never have. we run speed options. we run zone reads. Spread Option requires lots of motion and play fakes. do we run some play fakes? sure, sometimes. some motion? sure, sometimes. but not both majority of the time like real SO teams. take a look at UF or oregon or UM. that is SO.
