My friend, who is a college coach, just texted me that Kiffin is signing an extension to stay at FAU with a handsome raise.

Last I’d heard that’s what FAU was going to offer him (a hefty raise and extension) but haven’t heard that he had accepted

Kiffin is smart for staying at FAU for the time being if you ask me. He is learning how to win and building a program at FAU. He has state of Florida talent. Keep building and winning at FAU for a 2-3 more seasons, then take a big job like Florida St or Miami in a few years when they come open again. He will already have an established recruiting base in the state and relationships with all the high school coaches. Staying at FAU for a few more years isn't that bad at all!

Your buddy's sauces are obviously shite. He is already under contract until 2027. The only reason that FAU would offer him a contract extension would be to rework the buy out, but that would make Lane less attractive to P5 school so he would probably not like that.
