So if LSU hires Riley and is given $$$ for assistants. Could we see Gary Patterson as DC?

How about Daronte Jones ? Without O meddling, he's been outstanding. It would also lend to some continuity on the defensive side of the ball.

Diaz as DC
Mullen as OC

At least we would not have to say “there is no one on staff qualified to be the interim.”

How much money will LSU have left if they are paying HC $12mill. I still can't believe that number if its real.

Can you pay what we paid Aranda to get a top guy in here? You're not going to be able to steal from A&M Elko for $3million.

I'd be ok with Daronte, he has been pretty good in his schemes the last 3-4 games.

Daronte (and players) said in interviews from preseason that his defense is based around lots of pressure from all angles and positions of the defense.

The first 8 games, not only did we hardly ever see a blitz but when we did it came from the LBs. It wasn't until the Alabama and now Arkansas games that we saw heavy pressure with DBs blitzing in addition to LBs.

Daronte is proving to quite possibly be the aggressive version of Dave Aranda.

They have 17 mil to make O walk away, the Miles buyout, Pelini, Canada...etc, on top of offering up to 15 mil for a new HC. Something tells me we're good.

Patterson is set for life. Married into a FW blue blooded family 'Bass'.

He may not coach again.

O is making $9m

The TV rights renegotiation will provide an additional $17.5m per year per school.

Riley gets $12m, or an increase of $3m per year over O. That leaves $14.5m left from the rights renegotiation.

I believe the highest paid assistants right now are at about $2.5m.

We could hire two coordinators for $3m each ($6m total) and still be better off by $8.5m than we are right now, leaving plenty of money to build a Woodward statue outside of tiger stadium.

(Point is, the money isn't an issue. The landscaping of college football is changing dramatically.)

How much would Gary Patterson work on the recruiting trail? Don’t want an old guy collecting a check a la Chavis and Pelini.
