Ryno's just fricking around.

The biggest concern for Aranda will be wherever Herman lands. If it's Texas then LSU could be in for a battle. However, Aranda and his family also really likes it here according to some other assistants. Of course Texas doing something stupid like give a DC $3 million per year will change things but there's already talk of LSU bumping him up to $2 million so we'll see.

How is Herman a more proven coach than Jimbo? This is one of those situations that not every school gets. Do you think UF's first choice was Jim McElwain? Tennessee's was Butch Jones? How many coaches has USCw gone through? Nebraska? Miami? Michigan until Harbaugh? You see where I'm going with this? Getting Jimbo would be one of the biggest coups in college football coaching history really. Schools don't just cherry pick a coach from a school like FSU everyday.

This is one of the most spot on post I have seen about this whole coaching search

The real questions are who will be LSU's OC and DC (if Aranda leaves for Herman and Texas)
I think it's more likely Aranda would leave for a head coaching position, TBH.

Yes. Jimbo was the guy last year before Miles was saved. I think the only way it's not Jimbo is if he turns it down (money or family being the issue)

Gosh I hope LSU can retain Aranda. But we are bidding against the richest program in college sports

Why would Aranda go to Texas and take a step down? Texas' whole athletic dept is a dumpster fire.

Aranda isn't leaving LSU for another DC position. If and when he leaves he is either going Head coach or maybe NFL

As far as Saban, realy????

Everyone knows Saban is the brains and in control of their defense. Their DC is in name only.

And I would bet a deal was agreed upon with Jimbo's camp over the summer, prior to Miles' firing.

Say goodbye to aranda after the bowl game. Saban has his sites on him.

Saban has no interest in Aranda. Saban spending $1.5 Mil on a D-cord is the equivalent of Fisher spending that much on an O-cord. Not necessary.

Absolutely. Chad and Kevin are perhaps the best sports talk show hosts I had a chance to listen to.

Pruitt is making a million...... not saying he is interested in Aranda but it's not like he is paying Pruitt peanuts.

I agree with you. Texas proves that even with all the money doesn't equate to success. Their biggest problem is they have bat shite crazy top boosters that want Daryl K. Royal wins each year. Their boosters make
Bama boosters tolerable. It hasn't happened since minus the few good years with Vince Young.

wtf are you talking about? Dumbest shite posted on here in a while and that is saying something.

A) pruit has their defense playing better than it has in years
B) Aranda would never go work for saban.
C) Bama will not pay near the money we will for coordinators, go look.

I don't see Aranda going anywhere this off season. His next step from here will be a head coaching job. Texas is a mess right now and going there would be a risk for him. He wouldn't have the talent like he does here to field a top 10 defense and continue making a name for himself.

Aranda's efforts at LSU have risen him to star status in the coaching world. Mid level Power 5 schools, at least, will come calling soon and there is no reason for him to chance dropping his stock, even a little, by trying to revamp a bad Texas defense.

In a vacuum, Herman might be a 1B with Fisher being a 1A in the choice dept. Orgeron and Fedora being 3 and 4. But with Herman being a hot commodity and rumors of Texas in there already, it probably helps LSU make the decision and put Fisher as the top priority (makes the decision easier for them).

Aranda is not going to go coach at Bama-
Saban doesn't need the help. Looks like Saban is doing ok on defense.
Aranda wants to make a name for himself and he can't do that under Saban
Aranda needs a few more years of showing he's a bad arse then he will get mentioned in the head coaching circles

Aranda might go with his old roomie. I had not thought of that, and that would suck. Hopefully he likes Jimbo enough to stay for a few more before he becomes a head coach.

Orgeron could easily go to UNC if Fedora bolts or smaller program like one of the Florida directional schools if he really wants to be the top dog. I would understand him being upset if passed over. That being said, if he doesn't get the LSU job, I really want him to stay. Would be an incredible staff. Just not sure who Jimbo would want to bring with him.

Would Orgeron be a candidate for Defensive coordinator? Is he capable?
