With the number of coaches lined up and begging to coach at LSU, why do we have to pay anyone big money?

If this is the amazing job that's portrayed on this board, you won't have to pay them anymore than their current contract. The bonus is championships and it recruits itself, so they don't have to work as hard as their current school.

One of the factors in them lining up, is that we have put it out there that we are going to pay a big salary. That carrot has been used to stir up some interest. When we use that, we will have to follow through on it.

Supply and demand. X amount of coaches lining up wanting the job, one job. Why would anyone back the brinks truck up or pay biggly when we it's not required because of everything amazing about this job. So just overpay for the sake of overpaying? Sounds like camp talk when the dick measuring starts.

Not my first choice but Kiffin with a Pruitt defense would be intriguing at LSU.

Kiffin currently gets $4 million/yr at Ole Miss

Either his agent gets them to pony up or LSU can swoop in at 6.5-7/yr

You would only have to give him 5.5

He is licking his chops.

I absolutely want the job too, been campaigning for it on TD. I promise to hire the best coordinators and I have a binder available.

Lmao this is a classic tactic by Jimmy Sexton to get Kiffin a big raise at OM. It’s not hard to see.

This. It's just like the Les Miles to Arkansas rumors a while back that ended up landing Les a large raise to stay at LSU.

The Kiffin hire would be ok if you paired him a really good DC.

Any coach on the current staff is probably not a great source this go around. You gotta believe there is no way Woody would let this hire leak to those guys

I can say for a 100% fact that he’s not letting it leak to the staff. None of them have a clue, or they’re really, really, really dedicated to pretending they don’t, but I think they just flat out don’t know as the person I’m friends with on staff hasn’t ever lied about anything like that before.

I’m not sure how someone like TBL would even be getting good info if this person doesn’t know. I’m not saying there’s no way, but the person I’m talking about is high enough to where I’d assume that no one other than Scott knows if he doesn’t

After the last two coaches and the ongoing Title IX investigation, LSU would be asinine to hire Kiffin. They need a professional who will not put another black eye on the program for at least a few years.

Since his run at Tennessee, how much trouble off the field has he gotten in?

Kiffin will probably never win a national championship at Ole Miss

Why? It's 5 hours away, and Miss is fertile recruiting ground...puts out 5 stars every year too

Hell we have a shite load of miss kids on our roster now that would go to ole miss once they get competitive

Who is lining up and begging to coach at LSU?
Odds are it ends up being a Tier 2 coach that is good but not a great top 5 coach.

If this is the amazing job

The last three coaches hired at LSU have all won national championships within three years of their arrival. That seems pretty freaking amazing to me and I’m not gonna take the time to research it, but I don’t think it’s been done before.

To think otherwise simply shows a lack of college football common sense or a dislike for LSU that overrides a persons thought process.

If it’s Kiffin, I’ll be thrilled. (Riley as well).

But I don’t think it’s necessarily about trouble or baggage with Kiffin, there really is none. I think it’s more about unwanted negative attention and a target on the coach/program. LSU is trying to get the national media off our back and for things to quiet down, not invite them in for more negative scrutiny.

Again, I’d personally love a Kiffin hire, but I also understand that it’s probably just not feasible right now at LSU with everything that has transpired over the last couple years.
