Should the next coach be expected to live in Baton Rouge?

I know in years past coaches and their wives have not been interested in living in Baton Rouge. I think we should allow them to live wherever they want and maybe even build a place for them to stay during the season. May up our chances of getting a good one.

This is an interesting question especially with the work from home phenomenon that we’ve seen the past 19 months. The technology is there to live wherever. Sean Payton doesn’t live in New Orleans and hasn’t for years.

Yeah he’s definitely one that came to mind.

Coach's family can live wherever they want. LSU doesn't put restrictions on it. Both O and Miles had condos near campus for when they were "working late".

O's family lived in Mandeville till his divorce. An hour drive or hour private flight doesn't make a difference.

Sean has lived in Dallas, specifically in a suburb called Colleyville. My best friend lived across the street from him when he coached in Dallas. Though he sold the house after he took the Saints job, they never left I believe.

Absurd. Baton Rouge is a fantastic town. I’ve been literally everywhere and Baton Rouge is my favorite place.

Yes, the coach would be part of the community and get a place in a beautiful neighborhood like University Club.

In June 2012, Payton and his wife Beth filed for divorce. In 2014, after his suspension and the finalization of his divorce, he moved from the New Orleans suburbs where he had kept his in-season home to Uptown New Orleans, buying a condo in that neighborhood, and now lives there year-round.

A lot of NFL coaches probably don’t live in the city that they coach for.

I think there’s something to be said for that. Coaching is hard on a family. College coaching will shift that direction IMO. Spend Dec-July at your home, and live in Baton Rouge for the majority of the season. Better work/life balance. Who knows you may be able to persuade a Fickell or someone to come.
