Should Miles Have Broken His Rule About Keeping Mum?

What was the big deal anyway about keeping this all hush-hush til after the bowl game?
We already knew Peveto was gone and Mallory was going.
Hell, if you want Orgeron and you've agreed in principle, get his signature on the damned dotted line and announce it.
I'm disappointed.
Orgeron wasn't an essential hire but his presence sure would have helped in recruiting and on the sidelines.
You people in sales know you have to strike while the iron is hot. Elapsed time to "think about it" is the biggest enemy to closing a deal.
The Kiffins came down, got in Ed's face and closed the damn thing.
Les should have closed Coach O if he had an agreement in principle and announced the damn thing.
If you want him Les and he's agreed in principle, sign his big arse and call a press conference; bowl game or no bowl game.
Les and LSU let a big one get away here with this stupid hush-hush-til-after-the-bowl business.
The Kiffins schooled The Hat on the art of closing a deal and slamming it shut.

Oooh.
Another profound message board toughie.
If you don't like what I have to say then refute it, douchebag.

LSU let Orgeron get away, b/c Tenn was in a battle for him. What would saying anything have done to change this situation. Orgeron changed his mind on where he was going to go. He according to rivals got offered 900k, sorry LSU doesn't need him for that.

BULL... plain and simple. NO WAY you pay a DL coach more than your DC. That's bullsh*t. O is a malcontent who will keep bouncing around until he's burned all his bridges that really matter.
That stark-raving lunatic crapola on the sidelines gets real old with players real fast, contrary to what rantards seem to believe. Screamers get tuned out eventually.
But, if some here insist, okay, Chicken Little the sky is falling and Les is too stupid to close a deal. [/sarc].

Orgeron is a jackass. I just don't get the fascination with the guy.
Posted on 12/31/08 at 5:53 pm to timlan2057
How the hell do you blame Miles for this?
That's a joke...
Orgeron himself said that UT was a better fit for him.
Did you ever think that maybe there was no agreement in principle?
While you sales people like to strike while the iron is hot, us executives will let a big fish off the hook when it wants too much bait.

aGREED. He is not worth that. I want him but if he got an extra $200k to go to Tenn. I guess I have to change my tune somewhat. I can't blame him for that. And I can't blame LSU for not matching. There are others.

Wow.
I'm so impressed that you're an executive, Rummel.
With the ten to the umpteenth power of posts on this board you have, I don't doubt you've probably let a lot of big fish get away.
But it's nice you have an outlet to boost your self esteem, I suppose.
Tell me what the hell I'm making up.
If the money was right - matching Tennessee's offer according to Hebert, then close him and announce it.
THEN UT upping the ante when they saw they were going to lose him is irrelevant.
Is that so hard for some of you simpletons to understand?
It's really not a point you missed ... it's a point you WANTED to miss.
Some of you folks should think a little bit and use your brain for more than a cap-turned-backward rack.
But of course, screaming "ranter" is your catchall when you have no answer with any substance.

900k? For a DL coach and recruiter? No way. That would disrupt the entire staff. We already have the #1 class without him.
Move on ...
Move on ...

If you've got it all figured out, why the hell do you live in Alexandria?

So Miles should have announced a deal that wasn't finalized and looked like a jerk when O announced to Tenn after that. Then you call Les Miles a moron. Which is what I think you want to do anyway. You can't force someone to do what they really don't want to do. Let it go.

LOL.
Yeah buddy.
YOU'RE sure a guy who has it "all figured out."

Wasn't said to impress...it just is what I am.

Yes, some deals have gotten away. I'm guessing you didn't close all of your deals at the car dealership.

You seem to be stuck on this...

Never said you were making anything up.
I just think that what you think is incorrect.

Um, maybe it wasn't about money...

I don't wear my hat backwards. And that is pretty ignorant of you to assume that those who do not agree with you do.

I don't believe I called you a 'ranter'.

You fricking dumbass, quote me the exact place I called Les Miles a "moron."
Come on.
Do it.
Let me try this one more time before I go watch the game.
If there is an agreement in principle like Hebert said, then you waste no time. Close him and don't let this bullshite "wait til after the bowl game" stuff interfere.
Now I can't spell this out in words of one syllable for you, but do your best to read.
Slowly.
Saying that Les got schooled in the art of closing a deal and nailing it shut is FAR different from calling Les a "moron."
I'm sure to a simpleton like you though that the two are synonymous, but I assure you it's 50 country miles' worth of difference.
Pardon the pun and trust me on this one.
