Freeman differs than BK….
Freeman calls a defense.. He is likable to players, he recruits better than BK, is hungrier, made it to finals last year winning big games..

quote:probably because he lacks experience, he has the advantage of having a loaded roster...not to mention he will bolt for Ohio State the second the job opens...
I’m really surprised Hartline’s name isn’t mentioned more.

even with Shea's connections to the program he is never gonna know all the details behind the scenes
I think Freeman is a bigger long shot than any of the candidates out there
He is set at Notre Dame with an easier path to playoffs and I'm not sure the NFL is not his eventual destination

If you think he's a good young coach and his players will run through a wall for him then that feels more important than the ND part.

Yeah, but Ryan day is 46 years old. I am not really concerned with him bolting from Ohio State anytime soon.
It’s like when I laugh at people thinking Lanning is leaving Oregon because he’s from the South. He’s in an incredible situation in Eugene.
Just feel like the recent successes in the sport as of late have been assistants to head coaches.

He also had a historical loss to NIU last year as well. ND had no business being in the NC game last year. They took advantage of heavy luck, weak scheduling, and a terrible playoff committee. ND fans were calling for him to be fired after NIU then it died down due to the playoff run. NIU is equivalent to losing to a HS team like Appalachian State. Shouldn't happen even if they're a good team and should've significant damaged their SOS and rights to be in the playoffs.

ND also won in College Station last year.

Hiring Drink would be one of the best days ever around here.
And I will likely be out of town for it given the timing. That would suck balls because its going to be a non stop laugh riot

But god help us if Kiffin goes to Florida and Drink is LSU’s hire. There will be a lot of melting. And I’d have a difficult time not melting with everyone.
Yea because the next LSU coach should be hired on a popularity contest. God where do you people come from

Yet they got there. Not sure how that's negative for him.

This is what concerns me with Freeman. He will use LSU as an additional platform to inevitably land at Ohio State.

I’m not sure that’s a bad thing necessarily. If he does well enough here that OhioSt comes calling down the road, that would likely mean he did pretty well here.

I’ve said all along it doesn’t matter if we’re happy/disappointed/mad/upset/excited the day of the hire. It does NOT matter how we feel the day of the hire. The only thing that matters is how it plays out on the field the next 1-5 years.
That said…. It’s reality that people will have a feeling the day of the hire.

Same reason it was a negative for Brian Kelly who got bounced not even 4 years into his LSU tenure. It means ND gets heavy favoritism due to brand and often are not deserving of their rankings. Freeman has multiple black losses on his record like NIU or in LSU's case, when they lost to Troy. It's fair to question his gameday ability seeing as just like BK he loses games he shouldn't. The only thing he has over BK is he's young with potential to grow and isn't an a-hole like him so he's likable being a player's coach.
I'm not convinced he could win 10+ games at LSU every year. I don't believe this anyway because SHea is often clueless himself. Freeman already middle-fingered LSU once I can't see between that and BK with LSU seriously entertaining this option. Didn't Freeman's old lady get one look at BR and noped right out?

Drink wpuld be a disaster

It already is. There has been the delusions about Saban, the active psychosis that is Kiffin.
Waiting for the apoplexy of the announcement of a G5 hire.

Another ND coach will not happen for multiple reasons not the least of which concerns the last LSU hire

Hardline got his play calling stripped from him 2 years ago
