Sh** storm heading to Columbus?

Tressel's departure is very similar to Pete Carrol's in my opinion. In the case of USC, we all know how that worked out for them after he "left." Get a sense that the same is about to occur in Columbus.

I was running with Speedy's link as fact and see that it very well could be a rumor. We will see, but OSU has seen their share of infractions during his tenure. Would not be shocked if it happened.

Should edit your thread title.

How so? The NCAA already made an investigation and the players were suspended. No wins vacated, no bowl limitations, no pending investigations, nothing else on the horizon. What is similar?
BTW, and this is only my opinion, I think Tressel is as dirty as they come, but looks clean cut, so he gets away with more. Look at Ray Isaac at Youngstown State where he was receiving money from a booster that Tressel introduced him to and the school got docked scholarships, then Tressel bolts to tOSU and a few years later you find out that Maurice Clarrett has a free car from someone Tressel introduced him to and is getting his bills paid and school work done for him, Troy Smith received payments from a booster and now you have this issue.
I don't think it helps that you have the Jim O'Brien scandal at tOSU where the basketball players were getting paid to play either.
What's the definition of "lack of institutional control" again?

Tressel had gotten Youngstown in trouble also. The big deal was about ineligble players then the murder that happend while on his watch. I am not implicating him on the murder, but he took some hits for it.

rumor is Ohio State boosters are sick of players getting busted and they want Tressel out because they don't think he can control them.

The Tressel rumor was started by a nobody on Christmas day and was debunked within a couple of hours.
The comparisons to Pete Carroll and USC don't hold up at all. OSU got a call from authorities asking about the items that were found thinking that they might have been stolen. OSU investigated and turned the results over to the NCAA. USC denied and denied until the NCAA finally dropped the hammer.
It's laughable to think that anybody at OSU would want Tressel gone.

There is nobody that holds any weight with the school that wants Tressel gone. Even if there was is there a single person in Columbus that could touch Jim Tressel ?
President Gordon Gee ? No
OSU football is enjoying one if it's most prosperous runs in the history of the program.
Athletic Director Gene Smith ? No
He holds no clout with anybody at OSU. He walked into a dream situation with Tressel and Matta already in place.

You'd definitely like to see a perfect program being run all of the time. It was very disappointing to see guys make such a stupid decision. If it were up to me all 6 of them would be gone and we could move on.
Do you honestly believe that the same or worse doesn't happen at the majority of schools around the country ? I'm glad they did the right thing and will take the hit rather than sweep it under the rug and risk more severe problems in the future if something comes up.

Like they had a choice. A federal investigation made damn sure it didn't.

How hard would it have been to say "ya we'll look into that" and move along. The investigation was about something else and they found some OSU stuff that they thought might have been stolen. You make it sound as if they were investigating Terrelle Pryor.
