Chargers just clinched a playoff birth. No way Staley gets canned.

They do have the 49ers 1st round pick this year which will be in the late 20s.

They would have to give us next year's too though

I really think Payton is going to go to Houston to draft Bryce Young.

If he goes to Houston, he won't have that pick to draft Bryce Young.

Tough shite. Don't have the draft capital? Too bad. You going compensate us Payton not the other way around. I'm sure his arrogant arse thinks the Saints will trade him where he wants to go for nothing.

Y’all are deluding yourselves with this nonsense. The Gruden deal was over 20 years ago, and he was currently coaching. It’s not the same situation. It’s not the permanent precedent that has been set like you’ve convinced yourselves of. If we get a high 2nd and a 4th or 5th, I’d be elated. Anything more is just not realistic.

***I think a team would give a late 1st, but teams with those picks are usually pretty good and already have good coaches. Unless they’ve acquired one via trade.

I disagree. What is our motivation for letting him coach somewhere else, which means he will eventually coach against us? This isn't like a free agent, we don't save any money letting him go elsewhere. A team has to legitimately make it worth our while to do him and them a favor that potentially hurts us. Anything less than a 1st doesn't move the needle enough.

it isn't far off the same situation.

He's under contract for at least two more years after this one (and as some football front office people have said, even that is open for interpretation). He is unlikely to stay out of coaching for 3 years.

If it was anyone but Loomis, I think they would play hardball and extract quite a lot from a team.

Loomis will likely fold though

People act like Wilson is an irredeemable QB.

He had a 103.1 Passer Rating last year.

A thousand times this. Saints front office is feckless as shite. Saints talk is going to crash when he goes somewhere for a couple of day 2/3 picks.

There’s zero evidence that Loomis will fold in a negotiation.

In fact, there’s a lot more evidence to the contrary. The saints are notorious for putting a number on a player and sticking by it. Doesn’t mean every deal or every signing has worked out, but the saints have zero issue letting a player walk if the number doesn’t match. We let Mark Ingram go to Baltimore for like $50K after the 2018 season.
