No one likes to talk about this as regards Saban. Great coach, but he would have given us the Jimbo Fischer every year for years until we finally got sick of him and he left for more money.

multiple interviews (late in the game for hiring a HC) and it landed us the best 10 year stretch in program history.
compared to Joe.
first school to have an opening. hired O without interviewing anyone else.
ok, Miles inherited what Saban built. took him 12 years to drop the bar low enough to get fired.
O took over a program in at least equal to (maybe better) shape as the one Miles inherited.
do you see this shite lasting a decade?

I'm pretty sure that was mentioned last year by bertman during an interview. There's a podcast with a long interview with bertman last year maybe that I listened too. He mentioned being contacted after the first year in Miami asking around about the job and bertman saying LSU has a coach.
He left next year and ended up at bama.
I'll see if I can locate it. Great interview.

If you remember, when Saban came to LSU, he was asked why he left Michigan State. He said, the Administration at Michigan State showed little or no interest in wanting me there.
Skip Bert is one of the greatest coaches and human beings IMO, but he screwed the pooch on that decision. He and Saban's egos were too big to inhabit the same spaces.
Emmert gave a view of what LSU can be. Unfortunately, he and Saban have the plan but no one so far can read the instructions and carry it out. And they refuse to hire someone, maybe Freeze, that can carry out those plans.

What the frick are you talking about? Skip made every concession to Saban possible. Saban has the dolphins on the phone, in Bertman’s office offering everything Saban wanted. They cut his wife a quarter million dollar check to furnish their home.
