Tucker is the Kevin O'Sullivan of the football search.

Exactly.

You have people outside the program like Josh Pate saying this is the best job available. How on Earth would LSU settle for yet another mediocre coach? How? Please tell me they won't.

Orgeron's guy Bruce Feldman initially dropped the line about "highly influential" people liking Tucker, then suddenly his name popped up everywhere on potential candidate lists this afternoon.

I'm convinced that leak was a red herring so Woodward can quietly nail down the coach he actually wants.

This. Since when has a LSU coaching search ended where the first guy whose name leaked out was the hire? Never, that’s when.

if mel beats purdue and maryland it will be a good season and solid turnaround in year 2 at michst.

if he has competitive games against and/or upsets mich, pennst or ohiost then i'd say he's a good candidate.

You don't give a guy the keys to LSU football based on 1 good year out of three. We're finally getting rid of that kind of mistake.

How good of a candidate is PJ Fleck in your eyes? He had an 11-win season at Minnesota once.

What about Tom Allen? He went 6-1 in conference last season, and was Big Ten coach of the year.

If your answer is no to either of those more qualified candidates, then it should be no for Tucker.
