Well, it's obvious. Jones doesn't have a clause in his contract that prevents him from accepting a collegiate job the same way Nielsen ended up having in his contract.

Jones was interviewing for the vacant DB position at Notre Dame last week. He was looking to leave the Vikings anyway. One report had him as the favorite to get that job.

Most head coaches wouldn’t block an assistant from taking a DC job to advance their career. Sean Payton is not most head coaches
