What would everyone think if he’s the choice. Don’t know much about him other than he’s a good DL coach for the saints. LINK

Greatest developer of DL talent the Saints have ever had. Has overseen multiple All-Pro & Pro Bowl studs, and guys with career years. In his 4 yrs, the DL has been the most consistent position the Saints have had.

In college was a great recruiter (named recruiting coordinator) and developed 1st rd DL talents. Was a Co-DC briefly. I don't know if included calling plays.

Mentored under CEO. Would be a homerun hire.

If its Nielsen than that free up the dline coach spot and LSU hires a ace recruiter at lb and safety

Yeah, I have no clue if he's interested at all, but if he did take it, LSU would have another era of DL dominance while producing annual 1st rd DL draft picks.

Not a fan. Has nothing to do with him as a person. But should we be taking chances on unproven college DCs at this point? Harder than ever to be a college DC these days with offenses the way they are.

Because the NFL has zero explosive offenses. Dumb arse statement

It is just not the same game on-and-off the field. Experience in one does not translate to solid performance in the other within a year.

Would be a very good hire, but LSU brass thinks he’s not a big enough name

He is the guy I hope we get, he is known to ba a hell of a recruiter in addition to building some extremely dominant D-Line's.

Name is irrelevant, Joe Brady was a complete unknown when we found him, and he turned out to be the best designer of a passing offense ever to be seen in College football. If the guy can flat out coach, who cares if he is a big name. The CFB playoffs and overall wins and losses is really all that matters.

Nielsen should be the primary target, but I've no idea if he actually is.

Our HC is literally a DL coach. Like that is his entire worth outside of team management. Not saying he has done a stellar job with the DL, but why not get someone who specializes in LBs?

It would be well worth it to have Nielsen working with our D-line on a daily basis and just hire a separate, but very good LB coach.

Nick Saban is a DB coach. He has had multiple DCs who were DB coaches.

Are people even cognizant of what goes on in the world?

Could be O’s #2 guy. It was reported that LSU alumni felt like he wasn’t a big enough name, but maybe this is the way they go after Freeman chose to stay in the Midwest. We may have to wait until after the NFL postseason to find out.

A Nielsen DL + DBU is the exactly what we need against today’s offenses.
