Russ Callaway sticking around as an analyst or not?

What’s the latest on Russ Callaway? There was a lot of talk of him getting an on field position. With the way the staff has been filled out I don’t see that being possible. Will Russ stick around? How long can we realistically hold on to him? As an analyst before we lose him or promote him? Are we hoping that Peetz and/ or Mangas to great and eventually move up one at a time or combined and Russ would slide into one of the rolls after that. I’d hate to lose a guy like him and one that is thought of as a rising star. Hope to hear a small discussion about him on the radio show.

He & Corey Raymond are going to be the offensive & defensive coordinators at Alabama.

Dude went from the man behind our QB play down the stretch and huge rising star we had to promote or lose...to a total afterthought

I think he will be an analyst for another year.

I do think it's funny some people just automatically wanted him to be the oc.

Let him coach TE'S.

Mangas has WR's.

MJ needs to go help McMahon with ST's or run across the street and help Nikki with women's basketball. He has no use as an on-field WR/TE coach.

Great Recruiter though.

Callaway is so good he can be OC, DC, coach RB, QB, WR, TE, OL. So good LSU can't find a place for him anymore because they don't know where to put that skill set.

Is your only purpose on this board to shite on all our coaches?

Relax, it’s just a joke. Every other thread in here for awhile was about Calloway & Raymond. I can’t have fun once in awhile?

Yes, that's my purpose to shite on a guy who I think could actually work well in an elevated role for us.

Alabama has Charlie strong and other top guys in the analyst role. It is good to get as many good people there as possible but just because you have a talented guy on staff doesn't mean you have to promote him after 1 year.

How did I know you would show up in this thread.

I hope he stays. Whatever the wild narratives for him or against him on this site have been, the staff has spoken highly of him and he has a solid resume for a young offensive coach. We need to be developing guys who can move up from analysts to the field when coaches move on. After another year or two, maybe Callaway is one of them. He’s definitely worth keeping in the role he’s in if he doesn’t get a better offer elsewhere.

I don’t think Munoz is one to expect to move up based on his not so great performances in two on-field stints elsewhere. Hopefully we keep bringing in young, talented analysts because you can’t pin all of your hopes to one guy.

Austin Thomas was on OTB this morning and T-Bob asked him about Callaway.

Austin's response was something along the lines of Callaway has gotten some interest from other places; but LSU is working hard to try and keep him and figure out the best role for him.

Not sure what to make of that other than possibly Callaway has some offers to go elsewhere, but LSU is trying to spice up what he does and maybe pay to try and keep him for this year.

Guess we'll see.

Hey Maximus...That’s 103 comments you’ve made about Russ Callaway. It sounds like you are pretty obsessed with someone you don’t even know. I’m not surprised you couldn’t resist showing up on this thread either! Like I said though...you keep commenting and that just keeps him relevant bc there is nothing negative you can say about his job this past hear as an analysts.

Thanks, misey94, for just giving the guy some credit. There is a good reason he was hired at LSU, and I am sure he has gotten some calls. I hope he stays bc we need him.

You are 100% a jerk to posters on here and must have a real problem with Callaway. Did he hurt your feelings or something???

In all honesty I had wrote this before they made the rest of the staff hires. Realized it never sent when I got back to work after vacation. Deleted most of the parts about this. Guess I just missed that part. Mehh hope it made your day to take a shot at someone on the internet. But in all actuality I’d smoke you in a math competition anyway HOE!
