Riley might be a lady

He's a fantastic coach that would have killed here. We hired a guy that will win big time though. Two things can be true at the same time, both lincoln riley and Brian Kelly are/would have been excellent hires

I wanted him for sure. Most definitely on my short list of Tier 1. Happy with what we got, don't get me wrong.

Now is he scared and weak or did he just make a "business decision", a good one at that. Well, time will tell if he gets run over by both the PAC12, USC admin and boosters, and his own players at USC.

By the way, both can be true simultaneously. Right now it is a good damn business decision. And if he is weak, it will turn out to be a terrible over time as it ruins his reputation and he goes from a "young offensive mind" to a "promoted too early OC with a ceiling"... like Tom Herman.

But yeah, I would've welcomed him to LSU with open arms.

I'm not anti-Riley, but I'd rather have someone who has rebuilt a program rather than someone who has just kept a program status quo. I believe either would have won at LSU, but I'm happy we wound up with CBK.

Riley is in California now, so a transition shouldn’t be hard to pull off.
