(In all seriousness, I’d be fine with Jimbo…. Certainly not my top choice and I’d prefer we go a different direction, but he’s a solid coach and would do fine here I’m sure …just not my first choice, I want someone a little hungrier)
This is a beauty contest where fans over-analyze the shite out of every candidate. It comes with the territory of a coaching search. Just because someone strongly wants Riley doesn’t mean we despise every other candidate and think Jimbo is garbage. Everyone knows Jimbo is a good/solid coach, just possibly with a ceiling in 2021 and beyond.
And it doesn’t really matter anyway, because you are 100% correct: the fans don’t make the hire anyway. Enjoy the search, it’s fun
When a hire is made, the fans may be excited…the fans may melt …the fans may be meh…..and It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme how we the fans feel about the hire at the time of the hire. The only thing that will matter is winning games on the field
