We had a legit offense just last year, too bad your new DC didn't hold up his end of the bargain.
Things aren't simple, but clearly you are.

"Marketplace realism" ... it's looking more and more like Joe Alleva lives in marketplace fantasyland.

You must be expecting miracles. The D was good considering all the losses to the NFL. It was still top 25 in the nation.
And the offense was underwhelming for having Mett, Hill, ODB, and Landry. What an amazing bunch of talent.
It was obvious to Chief that offense was going to be a problem long term with Les. 2008 really seems to have changed Les offensively. He used to have some really good offenses (maybe his oSu offenses were mostly Gundy, idk)
Just believe that if LSU had a good offense, like the other 6 schools in the SEC-W, they would never have lost Chief and/or would have their pick of DCs now. Great program with a great stadium, rabid fans, and possibly best recruiting situation in nation. The only thing missing is an offense for a DC.

Breaking news:
Les Miles will coach the defense and be HC/DC.
When questioned about the risky, unconventional decision he said,
"I have a want to show the world I'm not just a quality front man and I know I can shut down an offense full of all-american talent in big games."

LSU has the highest paid staff in the country. Chavis was making top 3 money as a DC.

and he left because we wouldn't pay him the new market rate with market guarantees

It seems that other programs in need have had little or no trouble filling their slots quickly and successfully with good candidates. Yet LSU seems to be having major problems drawing quality candidates to fill a major position in what is supposed to be an elite program. Is it because we are too cheap, they sense a sinking ship, or both? The Keystone Cops show is ongoing.

How has this hiring process been a cluster frick? You think getting a decent DC happens in a week. Aggies were in the same boat and i think it took a little over a month. Yall probably dont have that long, but if you want someone who is good and well paid things have to be handled on their time frame.

There is what, 1 guy making more than Chavis was going to make?
And 99% of the time assistant coaches are tied to the head coach. Do I think they should have attempted to find a compromise? Absolutely. I don't believe their stance was that unreasonable.

Good news is if brick gets promoted we get a new head coach quicker....their will be nobody else to blame
That's actually wrong. Miles will be able to scapegoat Brick for the problems and make another DC hire given this one was so late in the game. So actually, no that isn't how it will go down.

Is the UAB coach actually a consideration?
Would we rather Bill Clark over promotion from within?
Oh boy...that will be hard for Alleva to spin positively when we get his Alleva letter.

Shut the frick up and go back to the SEC board, Aggie.

2013 wasn't so much that the defense gave up a lot of points, it's the times that it gave up points. UGA 2013 and Bama 2012 were hard to watch.
quote:Simply not true. The O was very good, if you look at it considering what LSU is trying to do. An LSU offense will never be that stat machine that A&M is, it's just not built that way, nor do the coaches expect those stats.

Like I posted in another thread. The beginning of the end for Miles.

he's not fresh off a NC this go round, if this hire fails its on him and he'll go down with it.

That was one year out of six, i give chavis the benefit of the doubt considering he had 1 bad year when he had only 4 starters returning that year...
